How to be as we end 2023
We are now in the last 60 days of 2023. While the season change marks a time of gathering and reflection, it also brings a sense of urgency to finalize this year and set goals for the next. How can we reconcile the weight of worldly obligations with the ability to remain present?
These days, I wear many professional hats. I switch from a professional development facilitator to a 1:1 coach to an artist to an administrative assistant to guest teacher to an active member of my HOA and community... and back again. I am energized each time I step into the next role. However, I get exhausted when my responsibilities overlap too often.
As I reflect on my current pace of life, I find the word 'unhurried' to be a suitable mantra. It reminds me that I have chosen each role in my life and each deserves to be honored. It has helped me be more present and more grateful for the opportunities at hand.
"Unhurried doesn’t mean slow. To be unhurried is to move at the right pace for the task at hand, to understand our place in relation to others and to be realistic about what can and should be achieved."
I challenge us all to remain unhurried; to linger in thought on what motivates and moves us, to be present and savor each day, and to thoughtfully design tomorrow.
