How We Cut Development Time by 83% creating AI-Powered Psychiatry Application that Psychiatrists actually like ??

When we embarked on the journey to build STEALTH's AI-powered psychiatry application, we knew that success depended on our ability to navigate the complexities of both healthcare and AI.

Our secret weapon? A Generative AI Architect who also served as our Product Manager. This unique role allowed us to bridge the gap between clinicians and developers, ensuring that our application met the needs of both groups while leveraging the latest advancements in AI technology.

Our Gen AI Architect worked closely with clinicians, testing new features in real-world settings and gathering feedback on the fly. These sessions weren't just about collecting input; they were an opportunity for our architect to educate clinicians about the capabilities and limitations of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI. By explaining what was possible, what was cutting-edge, and what was still prone to errors, our architect was able to steer the direction of the application in real-time, making multiple iterations based on clinician insights and technical feasibility.

But our architect's role didn't stop there. They also worked closely with our software engineers, diving into the nitty-gritty details of the development process. By having in-depth discussions about the development approach, our architect ensured that the engineering team was aligned with the overall vision for the application and that they had a clear understanding of the technical requirements

This close collaboration between our Gen AI architect and software engineers allowed us to anticipate and avoid many of the unsolvable engineering problems that often derail software initiatives in the corporate world. By proactively addressing potential roadblocks and ensuring that the development process was grounded in both clinical and technical realities, we were able to execute on our vision and deliver a successful application.

The impact of this approach was significant. By having a Gen AI architect who could seamlessly navigate between clinicians and developers, we were able to reduce our development timeline from 6 months to just 45 days – an 83% reduction in development time. This accelerated pace of innovation was largely due to our architect's ability to ensure that the application met the needs of both end-users and engineers, avoiding the pitfalls that often plague healthcare AI projects.

Throughout the development process, our team at STEALTH collaborated closely with various stakeholders, including healthcare providers, patient advocates, and industry experts. These collaborations were instrumental in shaping our AI-powered psychiatry application and ensuring its success. We remain open to collaborating with others in the field who share our passion for leveraging AI to improve patient care and drive innovation in healthcare.

As we continue to explore the potential of AI in healthcare, it's clear that this kind of collaborative, cross-functional approach is essential. By fostering close partnerships between clinicians, AI experts, software engineers, and other stakeholders, we can ensure that the solutions we build are not only technologically advanced but also clinically relevant and technically feasible.

The lessons we learned from STEALTH's psychiatry application serve as a powerful case study for driving successful AI initiatives in healthcare. By empowering Gen AI architects to work closely with both clinicians and developers, and by actively seeking collaborations with other innovators in the field, we can accelerate the pace of progress and deliver solutions that have a meaningful impact on patient care.
