How we become curious, 4 ways to deliver exceptional results, Non-linear growth & more
Curiosity
I have recently been reading a book about Curiosity and unfortunately it caught my attention completely. (I ought to say fortunately because what should have expected, reading a book about curiosity)
So the writer of this book does not attempt to keep people’s interests. He seem to do it by explaining how people become interested in things.
According to the writer, People get curious about something they have a little idea about.
Thus, if I tell you Walter Odnessey ends his books with a ‘crafted in faulty times’, it would not pique your interest as much as if I tell you Steve Harvey is trending:
Why?
You know Steve Harvey but you don’t know Walter Odnessy.
This morning as early as 5am, I was thinking how I need to learn up the latin quotes in law.
Now, the surprising thing is that through out my 5 years studying law in Lasu, the thought to learn latin quotes never entered my head.
However, as I wrote a test yesterday with most of the questions being entered on Latin Quotes (and me not knowing anyone), I decided to need to learn latin quotes.
Two points to note:
Growth does not come in Straight lines.
Recently, I realised that I have grown emotionally. This came as a surprise because I thought I have been wading along.
OK, not recently, just this morning, I realised that I have grown and some of the things I thought were cool are now actually cringe.
Have you felt that way recently?
The thing is that we are too focused on our day to day activities to see how these wins add up. We are too focused on being alive (or if you are in Nigeria, too focused on surviving) to see how your daily actions accumulate.
Note that I did not say winning through your daily actions, I said ‘accumulating through your daily actions)
You can be losing through your daily actions or you can be winning.

The Power of accumulating little steps
I once asked this question at a speaking event ‘If you did what you did yesterday for the next five years, Where would you be?
The answers were not encouraging at all.
And this is a question for you dear reader. If you repeat your actions over the next five years, where would you find yourself?
The stark reality of this is that we are creatures of habit. We tend to repeat certain habit over and over again. Wouldn’t it be better for you if your habits worked for you, instead of ‘against you'?
I came across the 4 ingredients for exceptional results by James Clear
Quantity: It is crucial that you take lots of shots, especially when starting early in your career.
Quality: It is crucial you think carefully about the shots you take, not just taking shots for shooting sake.
Consistency: It is crucial you keep on shooting your shots even if there are no visible results at the time.
Luck: It is crucial you try as much as possible to increase your luck surface area by doing tasks or things that makes it easier for you to be unlucky rather than unlucky.
I have recently been in a rut but gradually, through the help of friends and good books, I find I am able to write a newsletter again. That's the combination. Good friends and Good books. It can change your life completely.
