How to Be Water

How to Be Water

A Story of Simplicity

Imagine a body of water. It doesn't try to skip over dry land to reach a distant location. Instead, it flows naturally, adapting to its surroundings, and finding its path. This is a powerful metaphor for growth. As humans, especially at the start of a new year, we often set ambitious resolutions, aiming to transform ourselves overnight. But true growth is about understanding where we are and moving forward with intention and simplicity.

As we step into a new year, the quest for growth often becomes a central theme in our lives. Many of us complicate this journey, focusing on external factors and future skills, hoping to leapfrog into success. But what if growth was more about embracing the present and flowing naturally, like water?

The Process of Growth: Three Simple Steps

1. Define Where You Are Now

Growth begins with reflection. Take a moment to step back and examine the past year. What were your goals? Did you achieve them? Why or why not? Understanding your current position is crucial. It allows you to appreciate your journey and identify areas for improvement.

?

2. Determine Where You Want to Go

Growth is a continuum, not a series of dramatic changes. Set your sights on a new direction based on where you left off last year. This approach ensures that your growth is sustainable and aligned with your personal journey.

?

3. Identify Who and What You Need

No journey is made alone. Identify the people and resources that can support your growth early in the year. This step is often overlooked, but it's essential. Surround yourself with a supportive network and gather the tools you need to reach your goals.

Book Recommendation: The One Thing by Gary Keller

This book is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to simplify their approach to growth and focus on what truly matters.

As you embark on your journey this year, remember to be like water—flow naturally, adapt, and embrace the simplicity of growth.

Until next time,

Titilola.
