How Virtual is our Reality?

VR (Virtual reality) is new buzz word which we hear these days with its applications in multiple fields. VR has come a long way and still a lot has to be unearthed.

When I first of heard of VR, I asked myself, how can reality be virtual? or how can virtual be real? Though I am still pondering with that dichotomy, however one thing is clear, that this reality of virtual is the new world order and it is fast changing the way, we do things.

While reading regarding its applications in healthcare setting, most of it currently seems to be in training and counselling the patients. One of the key applications is in healing of pain using VR gear.

I am sure days are not far, when we will have physicians consult patients using VR gears and most of the instructions would come via this mode.

Technology has impacted and improved the healthcare sector and most of the benefits have been around data generation and allied areas, however the core of the patient interacting with physicians have not changed. With VR technology can that fundamental interaction change? This is a key question and needs to be seen in times to come.

Possibilities are galore and successful companies will be those who can change the way game is played.
