Are you hesitating to create video content because the tech side intimidates you? You’re not alone—this is something I recently dove into on my podcast, Rocky Mountain Marketing , where I sat down with Luria Petrucci . Together, we explored how video can be an absolute game-changer for your business, even if you’re not a tech expert.
Luria, an expert in video content creation, has had the opportunity to work with some of the top digital marketers in the world and she shared some amazing insights, including how one of her clients saw a 30% increase in revenue after fully embracing video. The best part? That client didn’t start with fancy gear—they started with their phone and a clear message.
Video isn’t just about being seen... it’s about connecting with your audience and growing your business in ways that text or photos simply can’t. If you're ready to overcome your tech fears, here's how you can get started with creating impactful video content.
Start Simple: Use What You Have
Luria’s client didn’t dive into video with expensive equipment. Instead, they used their smartphone and focused on getting comfortable in front of the camera. You don’t need a professional setup to begin—your phone’s camera is more than enough to start creating high-quality content.
The most important thing is to get started. Once you’re comfortable, you can always upgrade your equipment down the road.
Lighting is Key
One of the simplest ways to elevate your video quality is by improving your lighting. Luria shared that good lighting makes a world of difference, and you don’t need expensive lights to get started.
Use natural light by filming in front of a window or invest in affordable panel lights. With proper lighting, even a basic setup can look professional.
Create a Dedicated Video Space
Luria’s client found success by setting up a dedicated video space, eliminating the need to constantly set up and break down equipment. This simple change saved time and made it easier to consistently create content.
If you can carve out a small corner of your home or office, you’ll find that having everything ready to go removes a lot of the barriers to filming regularly.
Use User-Friendly Software
The tech aspect of video creation often feels overwhelming. But Luria recommends starting with user-friendly tools like Ecamm (for Mac users) or Streamyard (a browser-based tool). These platforms make it easy to add professional touches like overlays and graphics without needing a video editor.
Focus on getting your message out there, not on having perfect production. You can always improve your editing skills later.
Done is Better Than Perfect
One of the biggest takeaways from my conversation with Luria is that done is better than perfect. Her client saw a huge increase in revenue not because they waited for the perfect video setup but because they started showing up on video regularly.
Your audience cares more about the content of your message than whether your lighting or editing is flawless. Consistency is key. As Luria shared, the more you show up, the better you’ll get, and the more trust you’ll build with your audience.
The Power of Video for Connection
Video allows people to see and hear the real you, which builds trust in ways that text alone can’t. Luria’s client experienced this firsthand, seeing significant growth in both engagement and revenue by making video a regular part of their marketing strategy.
If you’ve been hesitant about diving into video because of tech fears, know this: your audience isn’t looking for perfection—they’re looking for connection. And video gives you a powerful way to build that connection quickly.
Ready to Get Started?
The truth is, you don’t need to be a tech whiz to create impactful videos—you just need the right tools and a little guidance. That’s exactly where Luria’s Bold Video Bundle comes in.
One of her clients saw a 30% growth in their business just by following her methods, and you can too. The Bold Video Bundle makes it easy to get started, even if you're not confident with technology yet.
Here’s what’s inside:
Plus, there’s bonus content to help you go beyond the basics and really start to shine on camera.
If you’ve been hesitating to dive into video because the tech feels daunting, the Bold Video Bundle is your shortcut to making it happen.
The first step? Just start small. Record a quick clip on your phone today or set up a space for filming. The most important thing is taking that first step—and with Luria’s guidance, you’ll be ready to grow from there.

Namely: those specific critiques from others that we received in our formative years. Yet, to echo some of the comments here, working through that (hopefully only initial) uncomfortableness allows that deep knowledge that you gained back then on-set to rise to the top and guide you, now. Keep on sharing all the things, I appreciate it!

I continue to host my half-hour weekly interview show--where you've been a superlative guest, Katie--giving my contacts options of instant messages or extended conversations. And yes, I forgot about perfection long ago. I agree too that the more videos you produce, the more comfortable and competent you become.
