How users will love your dashboard
On default, dashboards look awful. It's like creating a website in plain HTML. Or using the standard transitions in PowerPoint. But it's actually easy to create eye pleasing dashboards. I'll tell you how.
Nothing good comes from a vacuum
The answer is actually simple: Use existing brand guidelines, for example of your own company. (The guidelines of other companies work as well, if your brand design is ugly... or non-existent). Start with something that works and modify if needed.
Go to your brand hub/ville/center or whatever it is called in your company and copy-paste the color codes and paddings/margings into Power BI.
I can promise, your management will love the dashboard when you build it according to the design and colors of the brand.
Focus especially on spacing (padding/margin). Colors are also important, but the look and feel is also defined by how space is used and elements are positioned.
You can then "Save current theme" in Power BI to apply it then to your other dashboards in the future.
That's the secret. Now create fancy dashboards!

1 年Absolutely agree! I did the same with my first Power BI DB and it looked so much more visually pleasing. Another plus of changing colors: when you work many hours on a dashboard, choose colors that wont hurt your eyes :)
