How to Use Visualization to Improve Your Self-Talk
Have You Considered Using Visualization to Improve Your Self-Talk?
“When you visualize, then you materialize.” Denis Waitley
In his book, Joseph Murphy, “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind,” says, You can bring into your life more wealth, more health, more happiness, and more joy by learning to contact and release the hidden power of your subconscious mind. Let’s find out how we can use visualization to improve your self-talk?
Human beings have developed using our imaginations for all kinds of purposes. Whether it is for comfort, entertainment, safety, or protection, our vision performs many jobs for us in our daily lives, but you rarely, if ever, even think about how it can affect your self-talk.
Here’s How You Can Use Visualization to Improve Your Self-Talk
Visualization can be a powerful tool in your self-talk toolkit. You can do it at any time of the day, in virtually any situation. All you need is your brain, and since that’s already with you all the time, you’re all set!
“You are more productive by doing fifteen minutes of visualization than from sixteen hours of hard labor.” Abraham Hicks
Visualization is just one way your brain seeks to find the solution to a problem. If you think about a situation creatively, you can imagine the situation from all angles and see the various outcomes. You can choose one result over the other that appeals to you the greatest. Then you can focus on attaining that outcome.
When Tiger Woods won the first Masters, everyone wanted to know his secret. What was his strategy? He said that before he took his first swing, he visualized the ball going into the hole. Many athletes, actors, and executives practice visualization, and it becomes an essential part of their game plan.
The importance of using visualization to improve your self-talk comes into play as you seek to attain that one appealing outcome. You can use this technique without even being conscious of doing it. When you intentionally focus on a single result, it becomes much easier for you to finally set up action steps to get to that outcome.
The visualization process goes into your subconscious mind (where the majority of your actions are rooted). It gets you to a place of positivity by helping you concentrate on the things you want to achieve. The positive unconscious response replaces negative self-talk that may interfere with you reaching your goals.
Replace Negative Self-Talk
It doesn’t matter what the outcome is. You might be surprised to know that you can use positive visualization to attain any goal at all – there is no right or wrong way.
- If you want weight loss, visualize yourself wearing clothes you love, and let yourself feel the confidence you have in your new body. Use your subconscious self-talk to re-enforce the outcome.
Your self-talk: “Now is the perfect time to get into shape. I choose to be healthy and fit, so I eat right, get the exercise I need, and get the right amount of rest. I give myself the proper self-talk that builds my attitude and motivates me to reach my goals. “
- If you want more money, visualize your ideal situation – your perfect location, home, companions, etc. What kind of work do you see yourself doing?
Your self-talk: “Today is a great day to help others succeed. I care about others, and it shows. I choose to help other people get what they need. And when I help others, my life gets better too.”
- If you want to travel, visualize yourself going to the airport, your luggage full of resort-wear. Imagine yourself on a warm and sunny beach, napping while you hear the waves of the ocean lapping up on the shore.
Your self-talk: When my dreams are high enough, and the challenges are big enough, it takes a leap of faith to get there. I have a plan, I know the goal, I take the leap, and I’m rewarded by living my dreams.”
“Visualize this thing that you want. See it, feel it, believe in it. Make your mental blueprint, and begin to build.” Robert Collier
Concluding Thoughts
Once you determine your goal, the next step is to use your imagination to discover steps you can take to get to those places – the beach, the slimmer body, or making more money. A dream is only a dream if there is no action taken. Once you begin taking action, it’s a plan!
Visualization is so essential in this process. Without creativity and imagination, you can’t envision what you want to have and what you want to be.
So, start now! Determine your goal, and see your future self. What does that look like to you? Imagine how you feel? Can you see the results? How does it affect your life where you live? Use creative visualization to improve your self-talk!
