Let's say a club in Ligue 1 asks you to find them the new Kanté. They're hoping for an EU passport and an affordable price. First, go to My profile and set your benchmark league to Ligue 1.
Next, go to Search by model and select Kanté as your model player. But maybe the club is looking for someone who plays like Kanté in Chelsea's 2016-17 season, when they won the Premier League under Conte – not Kanté under Sarri. So pick 2016-17 for your model season.
Now you'll get the 200 closest style matches in the smarterscout database for Kanté at DM in the 2016-17 Premier League. As you can see, there are players with low minutes and from pricier leagues here as well.
So the next step is to filter the search by age, minutes, and the leagues in EU countries (but not the top 5 European leagues – too expensive). You can throw in the Europa League, or maybe ARG1 if you're hoping for a Spanish or Italian passport! Now we have 13 useful names.
If you want more names, you can always contact us for a longer list. Or, store the search permanently by favoriting it, and then rerun the search any time you want as new data come in. You're all set – and it didn't cost you a penny!
