Before the Event:

1. Get Your Pitch Right: Clearly articulate what you do, the problem you solve, and whom you serve to instantly capture interest.

2. Be Clear on Your Offerings: Differentiate yourself by focusing on how you can help your client save time, save money, and make more money.

3. Have a Professional Appearance: Make sure your business cards are clean and professionally designed. Dress appropriately to make a strong first impression.

4. Do Your Research: If possible, find out who will be attending the event. Prepare whom you want to meet and the kind of conversations you aim to have.

5. Connect on LinkedIn: Before attending, connect with other attendees or speakers on LinkedIn to build familiarity and deepen relationships post-event.

During the Event:

1. Buddy Up: If nervous, attending the event with a friend or colleague could help ease into networking.

2. Ask for Introductions: Don’t hesitate to ask event organizers or hosts to introduce you to others.

3. Approach Others: If you see someone standing alone, they’re likely feeling as nervous as you are. Be the one to initiate conversation.

4. Flip Your Mindset: Shift from fearing the room to seeing yourself as someone with valuable knowledge looking to help others.

5. Be a Connector: Engage genuinely with others, looking for ways to connect people with each other when you see a beneficial match.

After the Event:

1. Follow-up is Key: Use Tracy's “Fortune in the Follow-Up” diary system or a simple spreadsheet to keep track of and follow up with new connections.

2. Be GDPR Compliant: When adding contacts to your database, ensure compliance and clearly state how you intend to interact moving forward.

3. Invite to Future Events: Sharing information about upcoming events or inviting new connections to other networking opportunities can foster relationships.

General Networking Advice:

1. Never Judge: Opportunities come from unexpected interactions. Never underestimate the value someone might bring.

2. Stay Open to Learning: Whether it's refining your pitch or learning how to approach people, there's always something to improve.

3. Embrace Discomfort: Growth comes from stepping out of your comfort zone; embrace discomfort as a sign of potential development.

These tips summarize Tracy Currell's networking philosophy, highlighting the importance of preparation, authentic engagement, and consistent follow-up so no opportunities get left on the table.?
