How to use and maintain DTH hammer correctly?

Down?the hole hammer, like vehicles, require proper use and maintenance. If the vehicle is well maintained, it can be driven for more than 10 years without any problem. If it is not well maintained, the vehicle can be scrapped after two or three years. So how to correctly use and maintain down-the-hole impact drill bits?

1. Check?before use

If it is a new dth hammer?or a?hammer that has been maintained after use, before use, it is necessary to carefully check that the front and rear joints of the down?to hole hammer?and the outer casing are connected reliably, that the piston can move freely, and that the drill bit and the dth hammer?are securely connected. Drilling operations can only be carried out after the connections are correct, the relevant drill pipes, drilling rigs, and air compressors are ready, and the connecting parts are reliable. If it is a dth hammer?that has been used and has not been maintained, it needs to be maintained before use.

?2. Lubrication during use

The main purposes of lubrication are: reducing wear, preventing rust, anti-oxidation and gap sealing. The down to hole hammer?uses compressed air to drive the high-frequency movement of the piston to provide rock-breaking impact power to the drill bit. Any high-speed moving parts require good lubrication, and the same is true for dth down the hole hammer. Every dth down the hole hammer needs to be lubricated before and during use. If there is no lubrication or poor lubrication, it will cause early wear and fatigue to the internal moving parts of the dth hammer,?especially the piston, and form early fatigue cracks on the piston surface, which will seriously affect the life of the piston, increase the use cost, and bring inconvenience to the construction. Poor lubrication (left) and no lubrication (right) cause early fatigue cracks in the piston. Proper lubrication can not only improve drilling efficiency, but also extend the service life of the dth down the hole hammer. High-quality rock drilling lubricants have good anti-wear, anti-rust, anti-oxidation, anti-foam and multi-drilling tool damage properties. When there is foam around the drill hole, more lubricant oil is also required.

3. ?Maintenance after use

Proper and timely maintenance can also extend the life of dth drilling hammer components and reduce usage costs to a great extent. Clean the parts of the down the hole hammer in a timely manner. In many cases, the outer casing is worn or the performance of the hammer is reduced due to wear of internal parts. At this time, the down the hole hammer needs repair and more detailed inspection is required. If all parts are in good condition, they need to be lubricated and installed correctly according to the assembly diagram and then stored. However, in order to ensure that the?down the hole hammer?maintains its optimal performance, the down the hole hammer must be maintained regularly.

4. Regular maintenance

Any equipment requires regular maintenance. Only by carefully performing each maintenance can it be handy when needed. The same goes for dth hammer. However, the maintenance of dth hammer after use and maintenance is much simpler. You only need to make sure whether its internal piston moves well and whether the lubrication is appropriate. If the?dth hammer has been used for a long time, the dth hammer needs to be routinely maintained according to the following methods:

1) Replace all "O" rings, check valve seals and springs inside the dth hammer, which can ensure that the hammer?reduces air consumption.

2) Ensure good lubrication of the internal moving parts (piston) of the dth hammer, and remove all sharp corners and burrs formed by the piston during use (it is recommended to use a whetstone to grind off the sharp corners and burrs of the piston).

3) Make sure the check valve is unobstructed and returns to the correct position.

4) If the outer casing and cylinder are worn, replace them in time as needed.

5) Install correctly according to the installation sequence in the instruction manual or installation diagram.

6) Keep it properly.
