Instagram Insights, the feature for Instagram Business Account shows you the analytics of engagement from the users that will help you analyze the performance, and subsequently improve it by taking right and timely actions within your page. In order to use Instagram Insights you need to have a Business profile. If you are accessing a private account, you may switch to a business profile with some simple, quick steps.

  1. Open up your profile on the Instagram app
  2. Access the Settings page.
  3. Tap 'Account.'
  4. Click 'Switch to Professional Account.'
  5. Choose your category and click 'Done.'
  6. Optional: Switch to a Business account.

Insights on individual posts

For an Individual Post

  1. Navigate to your profile.
  2. Navigate to the individual post you’d like to see insights for.
  3. At the bottom of the post, there will be a banner. Tap View Insights.
  4. You can now see how many likes, comments, shares, and saves your post received.

For a Reel

  1. Navigate to your profile.
  2. Navigate to the individual reel you’d like to see insights for.
  3. At the bottom of the reel, there will be a banner. Tap View Insights.
  4. You can now see how many plays, likes, comments, shares, and saves your reel received.

For a Story

If your Story is currently live on your profile:

1 Navigate to your profile.

2 Click on your profile picture.

3 Scroll up on the story.

4 You’ll immediately access insights for that Story, including replies, exits, link clicks, forwards, and more.

Ways to use Instagram Insights efficiently

Instagram Insights is a great tool for making the optimum use of Instagram if you are intending to improve and bring your business to success. Proper use of it can prove to be of great help and aid. Some features that can be used on Instagram Insights, that'll end up making a huge difference, are:

1) Measure reach.

Shows the unique accounts your content has reached, on the Accounts Reached section.

  • It has the following options that you can check:
  • Top Posts: The posts that generated the most reach.
  • Top Stories: The Instagram Stories posts that generated the most reach.
  • Impressions: How many times your posts were seen.
  • Profile Activity: Profile visits, website taps, and other activity.

2) Track profile visits and followers.

Under Account Activity on the Accounts Reached page you'll see the Profile Visits. You can determine the number of visitors converting into followers and use this ratio, that is the conversion rate to understand whether your proportion of conversion is increasing, or the opposite.

3) Determine website clicks.

It can be seen under Profile Activity on the Accounts Reached page. It helps you know the number of times the links you have included on your profile have been clicked.

4) Track content interactions.

You may track the content engagement on the Accounts Engaged page that shows the metrics on the basis of content type. It helps you to reflect on your Instagram strategies by taking a look at the number of likes, comments and saves on different contents.

5) Track your followers.

If you click on Track Followers, Follower Breakdown page will open up, where you'll see the number of followers who followed or unfollowed you in the past week. It also shows the average time of the day your followers are active on Instagram so that you can plan your posts' timing accordingly.

6) Learn about actions taken on your post.

Visit your profile and click on the post you want to know the actions taken about, click on View Insights below the post. Under the Profile Activity section, you can see the actions taken by the users, like tapping on the website link provided, visiting your profile, or following you.

7) Use "Reach" to see where your post showed up in feeds.

It indicates Impressions, that is the number of times the post was seen on a particular place on Instagram and where it was seen the most, like the user's home feed, a search, your profile, a location tag, or a hashtag, also those users who weren't following you when they saw the post. It includes the data on the number of unique accounts that saw your post.??

8) View Story Insights.

Instagram users with a business profile may see the Story Insights. To view your Story Insights, navigate back to Insights and scroll down to the Content You Shared section on the Insights Overview page. From there scroll down and select the story you want Insight data on, the ones that are older, or the ones that haven't expired yet.?

9) Impressions

This represents the number of times your Story has been seen. If the story includes more than one photo or video, Insights consider the entire Story as one. If the user views only one among the other, maybe six photos you have posted, or all the six, the impression received will count as one. Same goes for the Story viewed more than once by the same user. Only one Impression will be considered as received.?

10) Taps Forward

This insight reflects the number of times a user taps your Story photo or video to skip to the next piece of media of that Story.?

12) Taps Back

This insight reflects the number of times a user taps your Story photo or video to go back to the previous piece of media.

13) Replies

This insight reflects the number of times users send messages through the Send Message text box on your Story.

14) Swipe Aways

This indicates the number of times a user swipes or skips to the next account's Story. Not to be mistaken for Tap Forward into the next piece of your Story media.?

15 ) Exits

This insight reflects the number of times a user leaves the Stories section entirely to return to the home feed.
