How to use ChatGPT

How to use ChatGPT

ChatGPT is a powerful tool that can help businesses and individuals in a variety of ways. Its ability to understand and generate human-like language makes it a valuable asset for tasks such as writing, problem-solving, and idea generation. Unlike humans, chatbots like ChatGPT are not limited by factors such as fatigue or lack of creativity, and can provide quick and accurate responses to a wide range of questions and requests. It takes this chatbot seconds to write responses, doesn't matter if you ask it to compare apples to oranges or compare quantum physics to polar bears it will create beautiful and usually intelligent responses.

You can use ChatGPT to learn anything, create writing and ideas, and problem-solve with ease. It is easy to use because of its intuitive interface, it's like texting a very smart friend who replies instantly. ChatGPT has been experiencing slowdowns and disruptions due to the insane amount of traffic that it has been receiving. It has impressively had over a million users within just a few days since its release.

In this guide, we will provide some tips on how to make the most of ChatGPT's capabilities. By following these suggestions, you can unlock the full potential of ChatGPT and use it to improve your productivity and efficiency.

Creative Writing

You can use ChatGPT to help with your writing. You can use it to generate ideas for writing as well. Simply describe what you would like to write about and ask ChatGPT to help or create an outline. I recommend creating a synopsis in addition to a detailed outline for yourself as well, which will give you a clear path to a well-thought-out and successful piece of writing. You can then use ChatGPT to create a complete draft, or ask it to write it for you section by section. When you're satisfied with the draft, you can send it to ChatGPT for editing, ask for critiques or feedback, and even send it back to ChatGPT for a final review.

It will look like this:?

Message to ChatGPT: Create an outline for a short story. The story is a fun fiction that will teach kids the basics on whales' digestive system.

ChatGPT: Here is an outline for a short story that teaches kids the basics of whales' digestive system:

Introduction: The story begins with a group of friends at the beach, looking out at the ocean and wondering about the mysteries of the sea.

Problem: One of the friends, Max, is particularly curious about whales. He asks the others if they know anything about how whales digest their food.

Research: The friends decide to do some research to learn more about whales' digestive system. They go to the library and borrow some books on whales.

Discovery: As they read, the friends discover that whales have a complex digestive system that is similar to that of cows. They have a large stomach with multiple compartments, where food is broken down and digested.

Explanation: The friends learn that whales use baleen, a type of filter, to strain small organisms like krill and plankton from the water. They also learn that whales have to eat a lot of food, since they are so large.

Application: The friends are excited by what they have learned and decide to share their knowledge with others. They create a presentation and give it to their class at school, teaching their classmates about whales' digestive system.

Conclusion: The story ends with the friends feeling proud of what they have learned and happy to have shared their knowledge with others. They are excited to continue exploring the mysteries of the sea and learn more about the amazing creatures that live there."

Now that we have an outline we can ask chatGPT to build out the story one piece at a time and it will look like this,

?Message to ChatGPT: Write section 3 - Research: The friends decide to do some research to learn more about whales' digestive system. They go to the library and borrow some books on whales.

NOTE: Above I fed it some information on the section I want to write not just "Write section 3" because its memory is far from perfect and it can and will forget parts of the outline which isn't what we want. Little tricks like sending it some background information along with requests can be discovered by experimenting.

ChatGPT: In this section of the story, the friends are determined to learn more about whales and their digestive systems. They decide to do some research, and head to the library to borrow some books on whales.

As they enter the library, the friends are excited to start their research. They head to the non-fiction section and start looking for books on whales. They find a few books with colorful pictures and interesting information, and quickly borrow them to take home and read.

Back at home, the friends sit down together and start reading the books. They are fascinated by the information they find, and learn all about whales' complex digestive system. They read about the multiple compartments in a whale's stomach, and how food is broken down and digested there.

The friends also learn about baleen, the special filter that whales use to strain small organisms like krill and plankton from the water. They are amazed by the sheer amount of food that whales have to eat, given their size.

As they continue reading, the friends become more and more excited about what they are learning. They are eager to share their new knowledge with others and teach them about whales' digestive system.

Now you continue having the chatbot write sections and when you are finished you can send it back complete in quotes to ChatGPT and ask ChatGPT to...

1."Revise this writing"

2." Improve this writing"

3. Ask where improvements could be made or ask ChatGPT to explain why this writing is good, bad, optimal, interesting, fun or efficient. (This will give you helpful insights and feedback but keep in mind it's opinions aren't always right or even remotely right, you will need to make your own choice what to trust from ChatGPT's replies.)

Writing Emails

I love to use AI to help me write emails. ChatGPT is especially good at this and currently is the very best AI for writing anything especially customized writing. Let's start with responding to a sales email.

Let's say you are responding to emails and you get an offer that you aren't interested in. There are a few ways to use AI to assist you here. The AI does best with custom writing for you if it knows you as anyone would. So tell the AI background on yourself that is relevant to your writing and tell it your desired outcome to get the most accurate and helpful output.

First, write a background, and then write what you want. For example,

I may write ChatGPT: My name is Kris. I am a business consultant and I'd like to politely decline the offer in this email for their services. Write an Email response as me to this Email "PASTE EMAIL HERE".

NOTE: I wrote my name for the Email response so it would be included in the email output from AI for me to use but sometimes unnecessary details or additional actually make the output worse. Experiment with this one and I guarantee that when you need a hand coming up with how to word something this will be invaluable in those moments.

Problem Solving and Analysis

To make the most of ChatGPT, I recommend following this simple process:

  1. Define your objectives and goals. What do you want to achieve with ChatGPT? What is the desired outcome or impact?
  2. Gather relevant background information. What is the current situation? What are the key challenges or obstacles? What data or evidence is available to support the analysis?
  3. Fill out the template provided below. This will help structure your problem-solving process and ensure that you have all the necessary information to make the most of ChatGPT.

Template for collecting data for ChatGPT analysis:

  1. Brief description of the situation:
  2. Objectives and goals:
  3. Relevant background information:
  4. Current status or progress:
  5. Key challenges or obstacles:
  6. Potential solutions or ideas:
  7. Desired outcome or impact:
  8. Additional comments or notes:
  9. Data or evidence to support analysis:
  10. Timeframe for implementation and evaluation:

Once you've filled out the template, you can then ask ChatGPT whatever you'd like, and request the desired outcome. The possibilities are endless, and you may be surprised at the insights and solutions that ChatGPT can provide.

Remember, ChatGPT is a novel and constantly evolving technology, and the full extent of its capabilities is still being explored. So don't be afraid to experiment and have fun with it. You never know what it might be able to do for you.
