When talking about change, it is really interesting how many personal definitions you will hear. Let’s try a quick exercise. Ask five persons the following question: What does the change mean? You will be surprised at how many different points of view, feelings, and thoughts you will gather.
The definitions of change received, may vary according to all personal experiences faced during the different stages of change. After people share their definition of change, they normally share a positive or negative experience during a change process. It can be a personal or professional experience, but that moment created a before and after in their life.
“What we don’t understand, we fear. What we fear, we judge as evil. What we judge as evil, we attempt to control. What we cannot control...We attack.”

It requires some time to acknowledge that your fear to change is based on a lack of understanding. You need to understand change, before attacking it. I'll like to share with you, five steps to understand change and help you during your change journey.
Step 1: Realize that change is constant “Embrace it!”
This may sound repetitive but is real, and there are two options. The first option is to embrace change, keep moving forward, looking for ways to adapt and reinvent yourself. The second option is, do not embrace change. This means you will be left behind and once you realize change will never stop, probably it would be too late.
Step 2: Change is helpful to evolve.
The challenging times will get out the most of you. It's proven that many innovations come out from a tough necessity. These ideas normally involve a change in mindset or way of working.
The interesting part is how these ideas are created or generated through informal or structured collaborative brainstorming sessions. Keep in mind you need change to evolve into a better version of yourself.
Step 3: Adapting is the key.
Having in mind that change will be constant is just the first step. These days require you to adapt to new normals, new ways of making business, and a different mindset. This process also includes a try and error phase, that gives you the experience to reach your goals.
At this Step is very important to learn from others, this will reduce your personal learning curve. In the end, you will need to create your own formula to adapt as soon as possible.
Step 4: Change doesn't occur overnight, It takes time.
Everyone got a different pace during the process of changing. You need to be constant and keep positive thinking during the process. It's already known that change is not a linear process, so be prepared to fall and stand up.
It's also very important to take some time and energy into creating a good plan before starting this change journey. Proper planning will give you more chances to succeed.
Step 5: Develop your growth mindset.
To develop a growth mindset, you need to start by knowing yourself. Once you get clear your weaknesses and strengths, you will be able to develop and improve them through dedication and a mix of smart & hard work.
The growth mindset believes that your ideas, skills, abilities are always evolving. There are some cases that an unlearning process is required to keep growing by learning new ways of doing things. This is not an easy task, so don't let the fear of making mistakes stop you.
Step 6: Change requires flexible solutions.
Learning to flexible is the best strategy for responding to changing or unexpected circumstances and expectations. A flexible way of thinking will enable you to identify different ways to accomplish your goals.
Being flexible doesn't mean you're weak. Instead, it requires a lot more engagement and a clear purpose to think out of the box to achieve your goals.
Remember that Change is a complex process. By understanding it, you can surely reduce or eliminate your fears. It's always better to start with small steps than never start your journey.
