How Two MIT Graduates Disrupted the Marketing Industry with Inbound Marketing.
If you're at all interested in inbound marketing, you've probably heard of HubSpot.
They're a leader in the digital marketing industry, and their blogs, videos, and certification courses are pretty popular.
While you might know who HubSpot, the company, is, it's a little harder to know what HubSpot, the software, is and does. Who founded it?
So What is Hubspot
HubSpot is a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) platform that helps in tracking your customers and leads, automate your marketing and sales processes, and provide better customer service.
Meet the Founders behind Hubspot
HubSpot was founded by Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah ? at mit
The idea for HubSpot came to Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah when they were both graduate students at MIT.
They were both interested in the field of marketing, and they were frustrated with the way that traditional marketing was done.
They felt that it was too interruptive and didn't work very well.
They wanted to find a way to market their products and services that was more helpful and informative.
They came up with the idea for HubSpot after reading a book called "Permission Marketing" by Seth Godin.
As fellow graduate students at MIT in 2004, Brian and Dharmesh noticed a shift in the way people shop and buy
Godin argued that the best way to market to people was to get their permission first.
He said that people are more likely to pay attention to and be persuaded by marketing messages if they are interested in the product or service that is being marketed.
Halligan and Shah decided to apply Godin's principles to marketing software.
They created HubSpot as a platform that would help businesses attract customers by providing them with valuable content.
They believed that this would be a more effective way to market software than traditional advertising.

So HubSpot was founded on the principles of inbound marketing.
So what is Inbound Marketing?
Inbound marketing is a business methodology that attracts customers by creating valuable content and experiences tailored to them. While outbound marketing interrupts your audience with content they don’t always want, inbound marketing forms connections they are looking for and solves problems they already have.
HubSpot has grown from $255,000 in revenues in 2007 to $15.6 million in 2010. They now have 48,000 customers across 100+ countries.

1 年I didn't know Seth was the "father of Hubspot". cool. Well, I've been using HS for some time now, at a relatively simple level. HS is very common, and it can get complicated very quickly. the tool is not a no-brainer. I'm often annoyed, especially when mailing, because I often don't get the read confirmation. I also find the price-performance ratio to be OK, That's what's keeping me from switching at the moment.
