How to turn your TV into a Google Duo video chat device

In the last 12 months we've seen tech companies race to improve their video chat offers. In the corporate world Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft teams have come out on top, but in our personal lives those outside of the Apple eco-system have no obvious default option.
Over the years Google has launched, shutdown and launched various messaging/video chat products. The current offering for personal use is Google Duo. This is a great option for chatting on either your phone or your computer. But what if you want to have a family catch up? The ideal place for this sort of video chat is the living room in front of television. Fortunately, there's a way to make this dream a reality.
You'll need three things:
- Chromecast with Google TV (The latest model)
- USB Hub with passthrough power Anker USB C Hub Adapter
- A webcam (I recommend the Logitech C22)
Step 1:
Connect a USB Hub to your Google Chromecast and plug in your webcam. (You can power your USB Hub and webcam using the existing USB C charger provided with the Chromecast)
Step 2:
Download the Google Duo App onto your Google Chromecast. (Reminder you need the version with Google TV). You'll need to download it from the Google Play Store.
Step 3:
Launch Google Duo and make a video call.
