THIS is how to turn community into a habit for your members

I can never say this enough—People magic is NOT about content. It’s about how you encourage and motivate members to contribute their stories, ideas, and experiences.

And the weekly calendar helps you do just that. It also builds a habit that gets members excited to come back to your community week after week.

Here are some of my best tips for setting up your calendar.

3 Things Every Successful Weekly Calendar Has

A good weekly calendar has three things:

  • It focuses on member contributions: It’s not about having more content for the sake of content. It’s about providing content that encourages your members to contribute.
  • It creates consistency: Posting your content on the same day, at the same time, every week is one of the best ways to help create a habit. Members start to expect content from you at the same time each week, so they remember to participate.
  • It doesn’t burn you out: It’s better to only offer one or two things each week members can contribute to than overexerting yourself trying to do it seven days a week. You won’t be able to stay consistent, and you’ll burn out quickly.

Weekly Calendar Ideas

Remember, you don’t have to do all of these things. Just one or two is all you need to create a habit within your community.?

I include more examples in the full masterclass lesson.

??Office Hours

Spin up a live stream native to your Mighty network, or use our Zoom integration. Have an hour of Q&A and conversation where an ideal member can share their challenge, and other members can support them.

??Give and Ask

A member offers something they can give the community and then asks for something they need from the community. What's beautiful about give and ask is that an ideal member can give and ask regularly, allowing you to create weekly interactions.

??Challenge of the Week

Every week, create a challenge for members where there's a daily check-in or a book or podcast discussion. If you're going to do a book discussion, I suggest breaking the book down into different sections instead of trying to read a book every week.

??Community Roundup

Use your Mighty Network insights to see what the most popular posts in your community are. Then, share a roundup of those posts in the community each week.

??Pain Points

Get members together on a live stream or Zoom to share a pain point they have, whether it’s big or small. This is a great way for the community to come together to solve specific problems in ways that really showcase the value of being with people on the same path.

Now, It’s Your Turn

It’s time to start brainstorming ideas for your weekly calendar. Keep in mind it needs to focus on member contributions and create consistency without causing burnout.

Here are a few prompts to get you started:

  • Create a month-long 'Challenge of the Week' series for [your target audience]. Describe each weekly challenge and how it contributes to members' progress toward [their best year ever].
  • Design a 'Member Profile Stories' weekly feature for [your niche community]. Include a template for gathering member information and 3 sample questions that will elicit engaging stories.
  • Create a 'Pain Points' session outline for [your niche community]. Include guidelines for members to present their challenges and for others to offer solutions.

Love this! Building an engaged community is crucial as it transforms passive members into active participants who drive the conversation and growth. When people feel motivated to share their stories and ideas, it creates a dynamic, vibrant environment that fosters deeper connections and ongoing interaction.
