How To Turn Blog Posts Into YouTube Videos That Get Ranked On Google

In today’s video, I’m gonna walk you through how to turn your boring blog posts (that don’t even show up on Google search) into engaging YouTube videos that actually get ranked.

Blogging has been around for roughly 20 years and it’s one of the oldest forms of internet marketing around.

And because it’s been around for such a long time, that means there’s a lot of competition.

In 2021 there were close to 600 million blogs on the Internet and some statistics show that 4.4 million new blog posts are published on the Internet every day across all platforms.

So, if you’ve got a blog right now, whether a personal blog or one for your business, and it’s not getting traffic or really any results - don’t stress because it’s not your fault!

There’s just a lot of competition when it comes to blogging.

But luckily for you and I - blogging isn’t the only form of marketing online.

There are so many more ways to grow an audience now - and ways that are way less competitive than blogging - video being one of them.

Although a lot of people STILL read blogs, Hubspot says video has become the most commonly used format in content marketing, ahead of blogs and infographics.?

That’s because it’s so much easier to get your videos ranked in search when compared to blog articles.

Think of it like this.

Almost anyone can write an article and publish it online.

It’s a low-income skill.

I can pay someone online to write articles for me and post them to my business blog - it’s a better use of my time and money as a business owner to pay someone to do this for me.

But when it comes to video, the barrier to entry is higher.

Most people don’t feel comfortable recording videos or they don’t have the time to record videos themselves.

So that means there’s less competition in this space.

That’s why Video CEO’s has been so successful - we help our clients conquer video platforms like YouTube without touching a camera or even showing their face - and you can see how we do that in this Free Training.

So if most people and businesses don’t create video content, that’s a blue ocean opportunity for you.

?Less competition makes it easier for your videos to get found by the people you’re trying to sell to, those videos are easier to get ranked on both Google and YouTube, and it helps you truly stand out from your competitors.

The only reason anyone would ever suggest NOT to create a YouTube channel over a blog is that you’re essentially building your audience on ‘rented land’ - meaning that YouTube controls the traffic source if all your videos are hosted there.

But this is why you need to make sure you send all your viewers back to your website with a reason to opt-in for something so that you can collect their contact information and control the traffic.

This way, if something happens to YouTube, or your channel, then there’s no damage done - and you create a process that lets you sell off-platform.

Watch some of my other videos if you want to learn more about how you can do that.

Now that you know why you need to turn your blog posts into YouTube videos let me explain how to actually do that.

Firstly - pick the right blog posts to turn into videos.

What you want to do is create YouTube videos that your ideal customers will resonate and engage with - and this often comes down to what they’re actively searching for.

That’s really the key when it comes to turning your blog posts into YouTube videos.?

You want to create videos that a lot of people are searching for, but where there’s a low amount of competition - so you can get ranked in YouTube and Google search.

Next, write a script.

Once you’ve decided what blogs you need to turn into YouTube videos you can either copy and paste your existing script or repurpose it for video.

Even if you decide to record on camera, writing a script is one of the best ways to look confident on video.?

Being spontaneous, contrary to popular belief, can ruin your video and turn people off buying from you.

Your script needs to introduce what your video is about, explain the problem or provide context, and provide a solution.

Make sure your video script includes points where you ask viewers to like the video, comment below, or subscribe to the channel.?

Some YouTubers will tell you that this isn’t important or could harm your channel but if we follow direct response marketing principles, which have existed long before YouTube, it makes sense to tell your audience what actions you want them to take.

Once you’ve written your script - record or produce a captivating video.

You want to get 3 things right when recording on camera.

Use plenty of light (I recommend using a ring light to ensure you get enough light in your videos)

Carefully consider your background - (as you can see, I’ve chosen a boring white background but I wear a dark-coloured shirts to complement the background, and I can even include accessories on my desk to spice things up)

And finally, pay attention to your sound.

I’m recording this video with my iPhone but as my channel grows I’ll invest money into a microphone if I feel it’s necessary.

But usually, the microphone on your phone is enough to get started.?

If you get these 3 things right, turning your boring blog into an engaging youtube channel will be a breeze.

…and like I said, if you don’t like being on camera make sure you check out the free training which explains how to do this without showing your face.

Finally, once your videos are made you need to upload them to your channel with an eye-catching thumbnail.

In some ways the thumbnail is more important than the video itself.

When YouTube suggests your video to potential customers, the only things they have to consider if they click to watch your video or not is the headline and thumbnail.

A great headline will help people find your videos in search but a great thumbnail will get those same people to click on your video over your competitors!

So that’s how you can turn your blog posts into youtube videos.

Just rinse and repeat this process for each one of your blog articles and you’ll have a YouTube channel filled with videos in no time.

That's really great advice Jordon and mirrors much of the advice I have been given since I started two years ago. I was terrified of the camera to start, but a few episodes in, I started to have fun with it. I'm learning lessons with each recording, and seems like everyday is a school day but it is fun! Although my key audience is really LinkedIn for me, and that certainly seems to be working, as at almost any networking group I attend, the subject of my videos seem to come up, with a wealth of positive feedback. One person even said "I only log onto LinkedIn to see your weekly video!" But I do have a dedicated channel on YouTube which has gradually been picking up the odd subscriber here and there, but considering it is still only at 183 subscribers, I wonder if there is any chance of it really taking off? Maybe YouTube isn't what I should be bothered about, other than it is the host backend for the video content that plays on our website. What do you think? The link is www.YouTube.com/c/NorthstarIT In case that helps? I would really value your thoughts Jordon.
