How To Turn AI Into Your Writing Buddy

How To Turn AI Into Your Writing Buddy

Over the past few months I've noticed a massive increase in the amount of AI generated content on LinkedIn (and other platforms).

You might have noticed this too.

Not all the content has been that great.

Some of it has been a bit bland to be honest and started to feel like content being put out just for the sake of getting content out.

Whilst it is unclear whether LinkedIn and other platforms have altered their algorithms to give less impressions and reach to AI generated content, we do know they are tagging AI generated images,

And the concern here is that if you are putting out AI generated text content that is too similar to other content being put out on LinkedIn and other platforms then it will be penalised because it is not unique.

Another issue that could arise with your AI generated content is that it has too many keywords in it. A practice known as "keyword stuffing". Again a piece of content with too many keywords can be penalised.

Recently many users have complained that their organic reach on LinkedIn has taken a hit with lower impressions and reach. Which is likely to be connected to the increased volume of AI generated content on the platform.

So what is the solution?

How can you use AI to save you time with generating content, without creating bland, boring content that isn't interesting to your audience and ends up getting penalised by the algorithms?

Well, it is simple really.

I suggest following my 5 rules below to turn AI into your personal writing assistant:

Rule #1 - Use AI to help you generate ideas, so you don't spend time staring at a blank screen

Rule #2 - "Human Creativity Meets Machine Productivity" - use the 70:30 rule. Either you do the first 30% writing your content (getting your ideas onto the screen) and get AI to do the last 70% of the work generating your content piece. Or you write your content to 70% competed and then get AI to make your content better completing the last 30% to make it perfect.

Rule #3 - Inject your expertise into each piece of content, don't leave it up to AI to share what it wants on your area of expertise, inject your expertise into each piece of content by writing a few pointers for AI on what you want it should talk about.

Rule #4 - Make sure you prompt AI, when you ask AI to generate content make sure to include the prompt that the content it creates needs to be suitable for your ideal client avatar and tone of voice, so that you give AI instructions that help to make it tailor it's content to your audience.

Rule #5 - Don't be lazy and just copy and paste the AI generated content directly into your social media posts and other content. Inject your special sauce by adjusting the final copy to your phraseology and language.

To sum up my advice it's about: "Quality Over Quantity" when it comes to your content.

Remember that even if you are using AI make sure you are posting quality content that provides fresh valuable information, perspectives, and insights for your audience, that deeply connects with them.
