Pre-rolls hold a special place in my heart. With over a decade of experience in their development, I’ve come to see them not just as products, but as an art form. But herein lies the challenge: how do we replicate the artistry of a hand-rolled joint at scale??

As the Senior Vice President of Research and Development, I am really proud of the work our team has done. I can’t say we were first, but I can say that we created a leap forward. Optimizing Airflow Dynamics?

I know what you’re thinking… “It’s just a pre-roll!” But I’m here to tell you there’s no such thing as “just” a pre-roll! So, let’s delve into the critical aspect of airflow dynamics. If packed too tight, the pre-roll wont smoke well; and will likely clog as the resin stars building up near the bottom of the roll. If packed to lightly – the opposite happens, and you will get a quick, dry and uneven smoke.???

Our team has spent a considerable time researching grind size and particle size distribution in our pre-rolls. Getting an understanding of the right balance between large and small sized grind has helped us achieve a seamless airflow, ensuring each draw is consistently smooth, has the right amount of airflow to keep a nice tight ember while ensuing minimal resin build up that could cause clogging.??

Ensuring Optimal Moisture Content?

A pain point in existing products is their tendency to be excessively dry, compromising the smoking experience. This is especially a problem with high-speed rolling equipment which requires a much drier material to run at high speed.

Through rigorous research, we have engineered several proprietary blending, staging and equipment solutions that allow us to maintain not just optimal moisture levels, but allow us to have significantly higher moisture than key competitors.

This has allowed us to not only improve the taste and flavour – making the tube style pre-roll experience equal to cones, but also to remove a number of consumer pain points including clogging, canoeing and general uneven burns – these efforts have resulted in a superior smoking experience that raises the bar for quality.?

Enhancing Durability and Quality?

Durability is a crucial factor in product quality. Have you ever bought a pre-roll pack, and when they’re all gone there’s enough cannabis left in the bottom of the package to fill a cone? Or had a pre-roll unevenly packed with half the crown missing?

Utilizing premium 100% organic hemp paper and slightly increasing the fill to 0.4 grams, we have created a pre-roll that is both firm and evenly packed, which removes the acidity that some paper brands can leave as an aftertaste. This re-enforced chassis keeps the flower contained while improving the overall durability of the smoke throughout the smoking experience.???
