How Trying To Do Everything Results In Nothing
Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of things you “should” be doing to promote your business?
People tell you that you should be active on ALL the social platforms, consistently create content for blogs, podcasts and YouTube, send out regular newsletters, go to trade shows and networking events, advertise, SEO... All of it.
Generally, the message is “the more you do the better”.
Sure, by doing more you’ll be more visible.
By being everywhere you’ll cast your net wider.
Sounds logical, right?
WRONG.
I’ve always found this advice to be TERRIBLE.
The problem is, it doesn’t help you at all to cast a wide net, if the net you’re using is too loose to catch anything…
As a small business owner, you only have a certain amount of time and energy that you can dedicate to promoting your business every week, and you have to figure out where that time is best spent.
There is just no way you can possibly master multiple channels with your limited resources. So essentially, all your effort goes towards making half-hearted efforts on everything, instead of a full-hearted effort on just a couple of things.
If you’re trying to be everywhere, you’re literally WASTING your efforts on things that won’t bring you any results.
Yes, you might get the occasional client here and there. But it’s not a consistent strategy that can give you the sort of growth that you’re looking for.
Instead, what you need to do is to FOCUS.
Start with ONE CLEAR STRATEGY and put all your effort into mastering it. Then, once that is up and running and bringing you consistent leads and clients, you can start adding more channels to increase the lead flow.
So decide today, which strategy will you master in the next few months? Pick one and stick with it.
