How To Trust Yourself While Coaching Clients (5 TIPS)

Do you know that you’re the kind of service provider who likes to go deep and help your clients to shift a pattern at the core? Whether you consider yourself a ‘coach,’ or you identify as a professional who happens to believe in transformation, being able to trust your intuition as a guide is so important.

(At Sourced I work with all sorts of professionals from coaches and healers to teachers and marketing professionals to lawyers and doctors, all who desire to bring real energetic change to their clients’ lives.)

Especially as we move into the era of AI, the magic you bring through knowing what you know and being willing to go deep with clients and hold space for transformation is paramount.?

Your clients are craving the internal freedom that comes from transformational work so they can be a part of shaping the future in the direction they desire.

If this is you, I’m sure there are times when you sense that there's more to a client's story or situation than meets the eye. In these moments, it's crucial to know when and how to dive in and offer your insights.

Below are five tips to help you trust yourself and navigate these situations with confidence.

1. Understand Your Client's Transformational Journey

Before diving into a client's story or situation, it's essential to understand where they are in their transformational journey. I teach a framework called the "Anatomy of a Transformation," to help service providers to know where their client is and what they are ready for.

This framework outlines the stages a client typically goes through when shifting something in their life.

If you sense that there's more to your client's story, first consider if they are committed to seeing something new. When a client is truly committed to shifting their energy and creating a different result, it will be evident in their willingness to release control and explore new perspectives.

However, if they are not in that place of commitment, it may not be the right time to share your insights.

2. Trust Your Magic

At Sourced, we believe in the power of Sourced Magic, which is the inner knowing that comes from the Universe, God, or collective consciousness (however you relate to this works - it is not a religious idea!).

Your magic speaks to you and guides you in facilitating a shift to higher consciousness for your clients. When you're unsure whether to speak up or ask a question, trust your magic.

Tune into your body and ask yourself if your client is ready to receive the truth. Pay attention to your sensations and vibrations. If you're unsure about your magic, take our Sourced Magic Quiz to help you discern your unique way of knowing.

3. Determine if a New Insight is Needed

Sometimes, clients may not need a deep insight or ‘aha’ moment. Instead, they may simply need a reminder of who they are.

In the Integration stage of transformation, clients are practicing new energies in their lives.

If your client is in this stage, and they share a story or situation that doesn't quite align with their desired energy, consider whether they just need a gentle reminder of their true nature.

Ask them questions that help them reconnect with their empowered self or their playful side. By offering a reminder, you can support them in embodying their desired energy and handling situations from a place of authenticity – without needing to dive back into a deep pattern that they have already shifted.

(People can stay stuck reprocessing the same energy in different ways when they don’t have this kind of support for integration – don’t let that happen for your clients!)

4. Hold a Loving Presence

When you have an intuitive knowing that there's something deeper going on, it's important to approach the situation with a loving presence. Avoid trying to fix your client or convince them to see things differently. Instead, create a space of non-judgment and compassion.

Before sharing your insight, check in with yourself and ensure that you can ask questions or make statements with loving presence rather than judgment.

Remember, the core of transformation is truth, and by bringing truth to the situation, you can support your client in expanding their awareness and creating positive change.

Often these hidden truths are hard for a person to receive – in fact they have been avoiding looking at them often for decades – so be gentle, and strong.

5. Take Them with You

When you're taking a risk by sharing an observation/ intuition that may feel edgy or uncomfortable for your client, it's important to take them with you on the journey. After sharing your insights, ask for their feedback and perspective. This allows them to actively participate in the process and ensures that they feel heard and respected.

For example, you can say something like, "When you said that, I didn't fully believe you. I'm wondering if there's something more there. How does that feel for you?" By inviting their input, you empower them to explore their own truth and deepen their understanding.

Trusting yourself as a transformational guide is essential when working with clients. By understanding your client's transformational journey, trusting your magic, determining if a new insight is needed, holding a loving presence, and taking your client with you on the journey, you can navigate challenging situations with confidence and support your clients in their growth and transformation.

Remember, coaching is a collaborative process, and your role is to guide and empower your clients to discover their own truth and create positive change in their lives.
