Welcome back to "The Microdose Diet" newsletter, your trusted source for achieving more success, passion, and happiness in your life and your career. ?? I am Peggy Van de Plassche, I spent 20 years in the financial services and technology industries. After discovering the magic of mushrooms for my own mental wellness and performance, I realized how powerful psilocybin could be for personal and professional transformation. This is how “The Microdose Diet” protocol was born. Find out more at the bottom. Happy Reading!
There’s a piece of advice that always makes me cringe: “Follow your gut!” Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m all about the power of emotions, the whispers of intuition that guide us when logic fails. But let’s be real—this advice assumes that your intuition is perfectly calibrated, that your gut knows exactly what’s right for you. And honestly, how often is that the case?
Your emotions and intuition are powerful, yes. They hold precious information, deeply embedded in your psyche, shaped by years of experiences, joys, and traumas. But here’s the thing: sometimes, your gut can lead you astray. Sometimes, it’s been miscalibrated by life, by the expectations of others, by the relentless pressure to conform to someone else’s idea of what’s “right” for you.
What if your gut has been programmed to send you the wrong signals? What if the things you believe to be right aren’t truly aligned with your deepest values? What if the choices that feel safe and “appropriate” are the very things keeping you trapped? It’s not that making your own choices is wrong—far from it. But when your intuition has been shaped by years of living up to others’ expectations, it can send you into a tailspin of guilt, shame, and confusion. It whispers that you’re making a mistake, even when you’re not. And that’s where the real danger lies.
I’ve seen it time and again—the impact of this misalignment. It shrinks your world, narrows your possibilities, and creates a constant tug-of-war between what you truly want and what you’ve been told is acceptable to want. This internal conflict festers, leading to anxiety, depression, and a sense of being stuck in a life that doesn’t quite fit.
In these moments, “following your gut” can become a trap, a way to avoid what you truly desire because it feels too risky, too unfamiliar. Instead of moving toward what lights you up, you stay in the safety of what you know, even if it’s not what you need. It’s a vicious cycle, one that can keep you feeling small, confined, and unfulfilled.
So, how do you recalibrate your radar? How do you strip away the layers of emotional conditioning and reconnect with your authentic self?
??Releasing the Emotional Charge
Let’s get one thing straight: therapy is amazing. It’s crucial for understanding your story—how you got here, what’s misaligned, and why. But therapy alone isn’t enough to break free from the emotional charges that keep you stuck. These charges—those undercurrents of anxiety, toxic shame, and sheer panic—are like knots in your soul, and they need more than just talk to be unraveled.
This is where somatic tools come into play. Techniques like tapping meditation, havening, trauma-informed yoga, energy healing, NLP, and mindful psilocybin microdosing (aka The Microdose Diet protocol) are game-changers. They work on a deeper level, helping to release the emotional weight you’ve been carrying, sometimes for years, maybe even decades.
I didn’t develop The Microdose Diet just for kicks—I created it because I was tired of feeling good only when I was being the “good girl” I was programmed to be. The constant pressure to toe the line, to fit into a mold that was never really mine, was exhausting. Mentally, emotionally, physically, energetically—I was drained. I knew I needed something more, something that would help me create space in my life to finally breathe, to finally be me.
For example, in my family, asking for what you wanted was a no-go. You took what you were given, and you were supposed to be grateful for it—no questions asked. So, when it came time to negotiate in job interviews, discuss performance reviews, or talk compensation with clients, I felt a surge of shame, fear, and anxiety. Was I doing anything wrong? Absolutely not. But my programming screamed otherwise, making me feel like I was stepping out of line just for standing up for myself.
This is why it’s so important to release the emotional charge tied to activities that are completely beneficial to you. It’s about deprogramming those outdated emotions that keep you stuck, and reprogramming them to embrace what you truly deserve.
The Microdose Diet protocol isn’t just about microdosing—it’s about creating the space you need to finally let go of the emotional baggage that’s been weighing you down. It’s about stepping into a life that’s aligned with your true self, free from the constraints of what you’ve been told you should be.
Please, give it a try. You have nothing to lose except the outdated programs that no longer serve you. Imagine a world where we weren’t all walking around with our emotions tangled up, where we could all live in alignment with our authentic selves. Wouldn’t that be something?
