How to Transform Your Life Today

If your days are numbered, how do you want to spend them? Who do you want to spend them with? What mark do you want to leave behind?

These questions haunted me during my 25 days in the hospital.

Spending 25 Days in the hospital, seeing the faces of people who were sick and suffering, and seeing the dead and dying changed me in many ways unexplainable and unimaginable.

But I learned one important lesson - If you want to transform your life today, find your pain and use it as a power to propel you forward.

My Mom's Journey With Cancer

When my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer last May, there were so many questions in my mind:

• Why Mom? She's been a single-parent widow who's endured so much already; she doesn’t deserve this.
• Why Lung Cancer? She never smoked, and neither did anyone in our family. How could this happen?
• Why Stage 4? She's always been strong. How could it progress this far?

It is too difficult for me to comprehend what happened to my Mom but I know it is even more difficult for her to go through this journey, especially losing her strength to sickness.

Breakdown to Breakthrough

After spending 20+ days in the hospital, my doctor diagnosed me with caregiver stress.

The truth is that the rollercoaster of emotions and events as I saw my mom suffering, as I saw and heard other patients agonizing from the pain, and seeing people dying broke me down.

I cried quietly until I fell asleep as I felt the pain of the people around me.

I cried at the thought of losing mom.

I cried in the morning while praying.

I cried many buckets of tears but more than my suffering and mom's sickness. I saw many people in the hospital who were suffering more.

Suffering from a lack of finances to support their means and medication.

Suffering from the absence of family to care for them.

Suffering from the side effects of the medicine.

So I picked myself up and chose to turn this pain into purpose.

I want to use this pain to help my mom, cancer patients, their families, and loved ones who are on the same journey of dealing with the complexity of cancer - physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, and in many aspects.
