We all have that voice in our heads that puts us down and points out our faults. The constant reminders of our failures and rejections can be downright nasty and ultimately affect our lives and our choices. Those thoughts are inescapable because they are, well, thoughts in our heads all the time.
There are various ways of counteracting the thoughts with positive actions such as self-love, self-compassion, #selfacceptance and self-care and creating a balance with feelings of #selfworth so that the negative inner voice doesn't have complete control.
But what if you could #transform our inner critic?
What if we saw these thoughts as #opportunities?
One way of viewing the inner critic is that it is actually providing constructive criticism. What if you can grow and make yourself better from these thoughts? Some people use self-criticism to keep themselves on track, prevent mistakes and keep obligations.
So, how do we define which thoughts are constructive and which are not?
With three simple steps:
For example, you may have a thought that keeps telling you that you are useless at something. The reframe might be that you could use help with that 'something', and the action could be finding the proper assistance.

Another example could be the thought that you are a terrible person. That could mean you are outside your values (reframe) and must come back into alignment (action).
So, the next time your inner critic pops up, try those three steps and see if you can't transform a negative experience into a positive one.
If you can't transform it, I cover more in this video.
