Each year Gartner Inc. releases a global Supply Chain Top 25 ranking, which identifies, celebrates, and profiles companies demonstrating excellence in supply chain management amid global supply chain disruptions.?
The report ranks companies based on their supply chain management amid high-risk disruption. They’re ranked based on a set of quantitative and qualitative scoring that Gartner has refined over the years, calculated through various metrics, including peer benchmarks, to assess supply chain transformation.?
We believe the companies ranked in the Gartner Supply Chain Top 25 offer numerous lessons for supply managers and CSCOs looking to fortify their company’s positioning within the ecosystem. Cisco Systems took the top spot for the third consecutive year, followed by Colgate-Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson, Schneider Electric and Nestle.?
Our parent company, Siemens, also made it onto the list for the first time this year, along with Microsoft and AstraZeneca.?
What Can Global Electronics Learn From Supply Chain Leaders??
Here are four key lessons our industry can take away from the leaders present on this year’s list:?
1- Chief Supply Chain Officers (CSCO) are intentionally breaking silos by looking to collaborate outside their own business, to create “coopetition-based ecosystems,” that aim to address macro-industry level challenges. The conversations are more about governmental policy, geopolitics, global sustainability, and community social cohesion, to name a few.?
2- Self-stabilizing supply chains was the hot topic at this year’s Gartner? Supply Chain Symposium/Xpo?. The question on all our minds is, how do we build visibility that can create agility in the short term, leading to a long-term resiliency?
In order to easily pivot and adapt to disruptions, companies need to build an agile infrastructure- whether it’s adaptable funding, operational resources or opportunities to experiment, all feed into building durability for the supply chain.?

3- Building a more sustainable infrastructure is a priority for leading supply chains, with many announcing ambitious net zero goals that include scope three emissions reductions with suppliers and customers. ESG agendas have become an integral part of the industry backbone, making leaders innovate and expand the business model towards building transparency for social and environmental performance.
4- Human-centric digital automation is key to prepare employees for the future. Leaders are focused on training their employees on digital literacy and dexterity in order to shift towards a more digital-first supply chain approach.?
