How to thrive on Black Friday as an introverted business owner

Black Friday is one of the biggest sales opportunities throughout the year, but I know as an introvert this can seem really scary - its loud, its noisy, its in your face selling, its fast paced and so out there.

And it may be tempting to hide away, forget its not happening and come back out in December - just in time for the Christmas sales push!

As a small business owner, you may feel like you can't compete with the big guys - whether its Amazon, giant high street retailers, or indeed the bigger small businesses and coaches that are out there.

But you 100% can, and you 100% should.

In 2023, its estimated that there was £13.3billion worth of sales made on Black Friday, which is a 7.3% increase on the previous year - how mad is that?!

So, why wouldn't you want to try and just have a very teeny, tiny % of this?

Well, firstly, I know it can feel very extroverted in nature - "come and buy my stuff" literally, EVERYWHERE! And it may seem that the loudest people in the room will get spotted... and maybe that is true to a certain extent, but it doesn't mean that your audience, your loyal customer base, your potential new customer base won't be interested in the right offers from you.

Infact, its probably the opposite - as people are in buying mode, looking for deals and no-brainer offers. So, I will be taking part in Black Friday. I will be part of the noise, the hustle and looking to make some extra sales that week. But, I am aiming to do it in a more quieter, introvert-friendly way.

Here's my top 3 tips on how you can get involved, survive and thrive over Black Friday as an introverted business owner:

1- Make sure your deals are no-brainers, in terms of price and value. Do you have a course or programme that you haven't sold in ages? Do you have something that you only launch once a year that you can bring back for Black Friday only? Can you bundle a few things together, maybe templates, checklists, guides, recordings etc and create an exclusive Black Friday deal? Are you a product business that has old stock that you want to sell?

Make all of these deals amazing value to potential customers, in terms of the transformation and benefits they get, but also the price as well.

This way, people that have maybe been considering these in the past, could jump in and buy while its on offer.

2- Prepare in advance - well in advance! This includes what your offers will be, but also creating your sales pages, email automation sequences, making sure your email marketing and social media posts promoting the offers are written and scheduled.

By getting these organised and done, you won't feel as chaotic, reactive, that you're hustling or bringing your time or energy down... everything can be done in advance, taking these feelings of on-the-day noise away from you.

Also, let your audience know that Black Friday is coming... tease them and make sure they know to check out your emails and socials. Encourage them to buy from you as part of their Black Friday purchasing.

3- Engage, Interact and Have Conversations - if you've prepared, you will be able to spend the time engaging and interacting with your audience across socials and email. They will be receiving or seeing your content, may have questions and feel excited for your offers and to buy from you. You can enjoy responding, but in a positive way and not in a 'buy my stuff' way.

Enjoying the interaction this way will develop more genuine relationships, and do so in ways that may align better with you.

It will also create and/or deepen the connection you have with your clients and audience - something us introverts like, and I also encourage when I speak about networking.

So, what will you do for Black Friday?

Collaborate with FBN

I am looking to host my first collaboration bundle for Black Friday - the Business Growth Bundle. This is where a group of us promote a bundle of special offer, or free, resources. As we all share the details, it means that our audience and eyes on our business can grow.

I am accepting applications for this until the 14th October, so if you have a lead magnet, free resource or discounted offer that will help people to build their business, please share the details here, and I will be in touch.

The more of us that are part of the bundle, the bigger noise we can make across the period of time, without feeling like we have to do it all ourselves - we'll be creating ripples of noise together.

Action - make sure you register for my FBN emails, where you'll find out first about these Black Friday bundle deals....as well as my regular networking and business support tips, methods and advice for small businesses.

And do let me know what you think to this blog, and whether you'll be getting involved in Black Friday this year.
