How The “Think Both” File Inspired Me To Pursue The Ultimate Lifestyle

If you`ve read T. Harv Eker`s book, Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind, you know that successful people think “both” and not “either or.”
The last one was a big problem for me…
I never thought it was possible to have the cake and eat it too. I mean, why the heck would you have the cake if you`re not gonna eat it all?
You see, I was born in a middle-class family, my parents had a business at the time, and talking about cake… no, we weren`t starving but no one in our household talked about being wealthy or successful either.
I was told that a penny saved was a penny earned and that having it all was reserved for the doctors, savvy investors or lucky lottery winners.
Years later, I find this scarcity concept to be ridiculous, seriously.
Why couldn`t you have it all?
Harv`s book and particularly, the wealth file number 12, really opened my eyes to what`s possible to achieve. I was blown away by the insights given by him.
Most people don`t have what they want in life, not because they`re stupid or lazy, but because of bad programming related to their upbringing.
The programming usually consists of what I call “playlists.”
Here are some of them: “money is the root of all evil, be grateful you have more than most, settle down, get you a good job, we love you just the way you are, be seen not heard, there`s never enough to go around, don`t stand out, don`t toot your own horn (I say blow it up), money is not that important, be careful, save for a rainy day” or the infomous “success isn`t everything, you know.”
How could someone ever be happy when they`re stuck with some of these beliefs?
Or even worse, all of them.
We are so conditioned by society, the media, our parents to think that life is about working hard, climbing the corporate ladder, waiting for the next pay raise to eventually one day retire with enough of a “nest egg” and if there`s any time left, then you can enjoy life. If you even make it there!
That was one of the things I just couldn`t make sense of at the time.
How about start enjoying life now?
Let me share with you some personal insights…
One of the ways I found to have it all and create a life of freedom was by starting my own online business. A business that could allow me to work from anywhere in the world as long as I have a laptop and an internet connection and have the ability to generate income while I was sleeping.
Then I came across an academy that tough me the skills I needed to create a successful online business and neglect the likelihood of having to trade time for money.
I decided to look within, fix the roots instead of the fruits and take the time to learn a new skill that could allow me to never have to work a single day for anyone, ever.
I truly believe that most people still think it`s impossible to create wealth in every aspect of their lives. Abundance in friendships, relationships, money, skills, respect, recognition, fulfillment. Wealth is not only about money, we`re talking about creating the ultimate lifestyle.
What`s the ultimate lifestyle look like? I don`t know, it depends for person to person… for me, it was creating the conditions to live on my own terms. For others, it might be pursuing their passion or living in their dream location.
The reason, in my opinion, why so many people with potential never create their desired lifestyle is that they`re using the slower vehicle to create wealth.
Let me explain…
The realization I had in 2017 was that a job will only get me so far. Even if I could become really good at what I was doing, there`s only a certain amount of hours in a day and it`s impossible to crank out 24 hours of work a day. I certainly didn`t want to wait until retirement like everyone else to finally say: “ok, now I can enjoy life on my own terms!”
I`m not saying that having a job is a bad thing, what I`m saying is that it limits your ability to scale your income fast, to develop yourself as a person to the maximum of your abilities and have the opportunity to live the life you want because you`re always conditioned by someone else.
It`s almost like living tied down to a post, at least that`s how I felt before starting my own business. Having a business is certainly not for everybody but it teaches you a lot of lessons.
Becoming an entrepreneur is probably the best personal development course you can take. Apologize, Harv, love your book, but this course is way better! ;)
This whole thing of “you got to give up one to have another” never made sense to me. I just couldn`t understand. So, here`s my take away on this…
If you`re having trouble making sense of something in your mind, right now, it might be that it`s probably not true.
The shift happened when I started to focus on the size of me and not on the size of the problems. This concept shared in the book Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind is so powerful because once you fully embrace it, you`ll understand that you have unlimited potential and that creating the ultimate lifestyle is possible for you.
As Harv says, what`s more important, your arm or your leg?
You can have it all, and anyone that tells you otherwise is only talking about himself, making sense of why they have given up on their goals.
Remember, when a friend tells you that you`re thinking too big, what he`s actually saying is “I have quit thinking big.”
Plus, your friends only consider you as their friend with the condition that you don`t change too much. When you start making them uncomfortable, they`ll hate on you.
And, that`s ok because no one creates their ultimate lifestyle without collecting a couple of haters in the process…
Hey, I have a few ones too. :)
So, don`t worry, breathe… place your hand on your heart and say… “I`m committed to having it all.”
Much success,
Pedro
