Words, words, words …. They are such a massively important part of our marketing. The words used to portray an image, they share what we do and how we help, they show the solutions and clearly articulate our product offering IF done correctly.
To be honest I have seen so many websites and marketing campaigns that are interchangeable. It could be any business just insert the name here. Websites that have the same wording, the same list of services and the same boring brand that does little to engage or excite anyone. You know who you are.
You can mix being professional and fun. It IS possible to have a brand personality and I want to use my website as the key example. And it uses no Chat GPT or AI to create it.
You see, I was sick of looking like every other marketing consultant out there. And it is my personality to do things differently and install some sparkle into all that I do and I wanted my brand to reflect that.
So, I decided to chose a theme that not only resonated with me but with my target audience, many of whom fondly remember the theme I chose which is of course the 80’s. Take a look here https://www.digitalconversations.com.au/
There is no doubt what the theme is right?
But I went one step further and used theme copywriting instead of just putting some 80’s images throughout. I had SOOOO much fun writing the copy and creating something truly unique. It achieves all the following:
·????? Brand personality
·????? Different from all my competitors
·????? Showcases my services in a fun & interesting way
·????? Is far from boring or vanilla
·????? Resonates with my target audience?
So if you are a recruiter, accountant, lawyer, financial advisor or in any services specialty consider how using a relatable theme can help you to stand out from crowd.
So where do you start?
·????? Brainstorm a bunch of theme ideas
·????? Shortlist ones that resonate with you AND Your target audience (I based mine of the age of my clients)

·????? Create a list of words, songs, sayings, images that use the chosen theme (google will help you here)
·????? Start to inject the theme words into your copy.
·????? Finesse it and if unsure, share with a couple of trusted friends or business owners
·????? Inject the theme into all your marketing and have some fun with it
?
Some examples of how to mix it up to inspire you:
·????? I used “Bust a Move” and “Get all fired up and call” instead of Connect me
·????? I could have said if you want more clients, call me (boring) so instead I said “If you want more fans than the Bee Gees and mad love from your clients, a radical marketing overhaul or just want marketing that allows you to express yourself, then take me on”
·????? I could’ve said “need a marketing partner?” but instead I used Looking for a Jack to your Diane? A Dolly Parton to your Kenny Rogers?
These are just 3 examples but you will find them all through the website.
My theme doesn’t resonate with everyone – nothing will. And I don’t care! I don’t want to work with people that don’t have a sense of humour or personality so if they don’t like my message they aren’t a good fit for me anyway. Stop thinking you have to please everyone as it is an impossible task.
This year is about being bold and making your own rules. Be the giraffe that stands out above everyone else (rather than the sheep that blends in).

If your messaging is more confusing than Xanadu (no real story and just makes no sense), I suggest you start with an?Exploration Session. (and an example of how the theme is used)
