How Tennis Coaches Can Be More Creative When Teaching Their Lessons.

How Tennis Coaches Can Be More Creative When Teaching Their Lessons.

As a tennis coach.

You want to reach your full potential, and that should be your career-ending goal.

We need more coaches to develop this type of mindset, so we can start growing the game in the future.

Also.

On that coaching journey.

You need to use as much creativity as you can.

So.

Here are 3 tips on how you can do that.

One.

Learn a new coaching method daily.

Learn at least 1 new coaching method every day.

Study the great coaches from all sports and test out their methods.

Do it creatively, too.

And record your results.

NOTE.

It may take you a while to internalize the method to use it in your lessons.

Meaning.

Don't just try it once and give up on using it.

Because.

You may be using it the wrong way.

Two.

Ask yourself this question after every lesson.

One of the most powerful things you can do is journal daily.

And.

After every lesson.

Ask yourself.

What are 3 things that I could have done to make that lesson better?

Write down your answers.

Think this through, too.

Then in your next lesson with them, make the needed corrections.

This will get you into an outcome-based coaching mindset.

Which will help your students and players develop faster under your coaching.

This will help you reach the next tip as well.

Three.

Commit to coaching excellence.

I think that overall coaching in tennis has declined in recent years.

And the reason is…

Most coaches get into a set routine when teaching lessons daily.

Think about it.

They do the same drills, bring the same energy level, and go through the motions.

Now.

You may be pretending to teach with enthusiasm and high energy.

But.

Students can feel if it's authentic or not.

Have a daily coaching goal.

Write it down before teaching and review it after you teach.

Committing to excellence is like the Kaizen effect.

Meaning.

Your daily goal is to get more creative and just a little better with how you teach every day.

This will help you get in the flow more and also help you effortlessly crack into your creativity.

Look.

In reality.

You may never reach mastery in your coaching career.

But.

That's not the objective, either.

Your main objective is to reach your full potential as a coach.

Wouldn't you agree?

Okay.

Now.

Please share your thoughts below in the comment section.

Have a great weekend!
