How are teeth counted and names?

Most people, when they go to the dentist and want to talk about their dental problem, they do not know how to express their intention and try to get it by opening their mouth and pointing to that tooth.

Today we learn a better and scientific way together that helps us a lot in these situations.

Consider a hypothetical vertical line that divides our entire body into equal parts. This division also applies to our mouth and teeth. Now that we have two parts; We count the teeth from the front part (first big tooth) to 8th tooth. We do the same for the opposite side and the lower jaw.

Below we learn the scientific name of each tooth number together:

This name applies to both jaws:

1.Central

2. Lateral

3. Canine

4. The first premolar

5. The second premolar

6. The first molar

7. The second molar

8. Third molar (wisdom teeth)
