How Technology Is Transforming Sports Training
Sports training used to necessitate a lot of paperwork and post-practice effort from both the trainer and the athlete. While the athlete practised, notes and video were meticulously recorded and then compiled into charts and graphs that represented the athlete's performance. After practise, the trainer and athlete would talk about aches, pains, and thoughts about physical movements from earlier in the day. The system was difficult, but it worked, as far as athletes and trainers were concerned. That is, until recent technological advancements changed the face of sports training.
Training management software can assist coaches and trainers in monitoring all aspects of training, including nutrition, energy, and sleep. Coaches and trainers who can define individual exercises for optimal results avoid fatigue and self-inflicted injuries. Barring unforeseen external factors, the future may see injury-free athletics.
Mounir Zok, the US Olympic Commission's Director of Technology and Innovation, has seen technology transform and shape sports for the better. He claims that sports technology has advanced to the point where a "digital code" for winning the gold medal can be created. What he means is that data collected and compared can lead to a gold medal performance. Technology has increased an athlete's prowess simply by magnifying previously unseen performance-related actions and events.
Have you ever seen a sports science programme in which athletes participate in science experiments to put their skills to the test and push their performance to the limit? These programmes employ advanced measuring devices that enable athletes to track what went wrong and how they can improve their performance.
Perhaps the most significant benefit of technology in sports training is that injuries have been drastically reduced and can now be detected much earlier. Tracking performance, perfecting movements, and improving communication are not only advantages; they also contribute to less injury-prone environments.
