How technological obsolescence has affected our lives

#newdaynewchapter is a Blog narrative started on March 1, 2021 co-founded by Kishore Shintre & Sonia Bedi, to write a new chapter everyday for making "Life" and not just making a "living"
Rewind the life little bit when we were in the five to ten year age group, we would make houses of mud, raise puppies in the vicinity, make homes for them out of bricks and cardboard, play games like hide and seek, hand cricket, kho kho, kabaddi game, we would cycle for hours, climb trees and pluck fruits like guava and Jamun, play badminton in the streets. In the home, we had carrom, ludo, snake and ladders, four corners, dark room, raja Mantri Chor Sipahi, business., Shivaji says and so on.
Life was fun; there was so much to do, explore and learn and adjust ourselves to different climatic conditions, to boost our immunity and to have an athletic body. Today, I see five-year-olds, wearing bulky glasses, continuously playing games on their parent's smartphones or personal tabs for hours at a stretch. They will eat, drink, talk but the gadget wouldn't move from their hands as if their fists are pasted with few quick on the phones. I feel pity that how they are missing on an amazing phase of life, by focusing on an illusionary artificial world.
I feel technology is a slow poison for humanity; it makes us slow, confused, addicted to an illusionary world, and most importantly, lazy and dull. It's like poison, used in the correct way, it can act as medicine, but mostly it acts as what it is. Few years back, one day, my son got hold of my cousin's phone as his child was playing a game on it. The game fascinated my son, and he started playing it. The moment I saw him playing the game, I took away the smartphone although he cried for a while. As a father, it's my responsibility to make sure children don't get addicted to technology, and I am very particular about it.
The silence broke, when my 3 years old grand daughter entered into the room with an old mixer grinder. She kept that on the floor and said seeking our attention: “Hi guys! See this side. Look at it.” This was the exact line she stated in her sweet voice. “Hi guys!" was bit melodious. We were in utter shock. She then plugged in and ran the mixer. It was like she was presenting his product. We were amazed at his presentation skill to the hilt. We discussed with each other how she learned to speak so. We speak English at home, but we never address each other “Hi guys". She goes to play school, and I am sure that teachers will not be addressing kids as ‘hi guys’, it must be like ‘hello kids’, ‘hi babies’. Now it took a second to understand where this little man is getting trained.

Would you want to live in a world without your phone? Your computer? Your TV? Technology has changed the world, though many don't truly know what technology is. Technology is the wheel, carts and even basic housing. Technology is the preparation of food and the way you drink your water. Technology is: the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry. If you use your brain to create something, the thing is Technology. To live in a world without technology is to live in a world without most basic things. We'd still live in caves and hunt, though not with swords and bows, but with our fists.
So, obviously yes, a world without Technology is a world without progress, and progress is fundamental. Technology is changing the way we live our lives. It is also changing the way that we think about ourselves and the way that we want to be remembered by those who matter to us. As technology continues to influence our lives, we are seeing more people choosing to incorporate these changes into their day to day life. How has technology changed our lives?
Our lives have become much more comfortable and our lives are much less disruptive due to technological advances. One way that we have benefited from technology is through its convenience of meeting new people and finding love. With the proliferation of dating websites, you now can register on one site, find a compatible match, and begin communicating on your terms at your own pace. Many individuals now choose to meet someone online before they make their first personal contact with another person. Thanks to smart thermostats and voice assistants, most homes now have heat and air conditioning, which allow people to avoid spending too much money on their utilities.
Another way that we are benefitting from technology is through voice assistants and the many devices that are becoming available thanks to software and internet programming. Voice assistants are devices that can perform tasks that you normally would have to do yourself. Some examples of voice assistants are telephone assistants, medical transcriptionists, email readers, stock report writers, call center agents, automated teller machines, and more. These voice assistants can perform a variety of tasks and allow you to free up a lot of time that you might have previously used for multitasking. Cheers!

3 年The very practical truth today. Its highly dissapointing ,but no matter how hard we try ,its the Gen ,its the technology ,its the world racing constantly ,its the peer pressure, its the FOMO pressure..etc etc. Untoward inciences happening too.. And ,its the parents agony !? All that we as parents and elders are left with is ,nothing but invariable advice to not just our kids but all children.? They are missing out on so much that we as children enjoyed. Yet ,this is what is their enjoyment is now. I think ,if every parent would take charge about it. That no matter even if we can afford to provide our kids with all these ,but still keep the stern policy of not giving into the social pressure ,things wouldnt be the same today.? Good one Sir Kishore Shintré Cheers
