HOW TEACHERS CAN INFLUENCE FUTURE DOCTORS
Dr.T.V.Rao MD I many times wonder where exactly the Teaching profession fits which changing economic scenario, is the teacher a knowledge transmitter or a motivator of untapped potential in our students, if we are true to your job we are more than many things the people imagine about us. Teaching had done so much for me personally. It's allowed me to tap into my own creativity. It's toughened me up in work situation and I've got organized. You must be organized in teaching or you end up with being the unrecognized person. But the big reward is teaching the little ones and our bigger students, the immense satisfaction which may not be possible in many other professions. I never anticipated the effect my classes would have on me. Seeing the comparison between when you meet them when they pass out of the college and when they say goodbye is emotional. They've changed, they've developed. You become very proud of them, very parental. It's bittersweet when they go. My life time experience proves that we remember more of the teachers when they taught life skills to survive in the competitive world. I ever say the theoretical teaching is good to listen and we forget very easily, Teaching can be challenging but if you’ve got an enthusiasm to share your skills, combined with experience in life sciences and medicine, you’ll find teaching to be extremely rewarding. As a teacher you will need to be able to: nurture and support young people to challenge theories encourage logical thinking and the ability to problem-solving, share your knowledge in a way that motivates young people to want to learn more bring creativity and fresh ideas to the classroom. I always believe to teach at least few new developments in profession in every class to enlighten what is happening outside our class room as our students have to be oriented with Real time events, discuss new technologies and how they change our lives. Discuss ways to improve products, processes, and how we think about our patients and services with your students. Encourage your students to brainstorm solutions to technical and human problems. Skills in Medicine have long term impact to serve the profession with confidence and safety. Never forget the Teachers have got great power to make life interesting for our students, how you make it makes the difference.
