We often tackle our careers like marathons — pushing ourselves relentlessly toward finish lines far off in the distance. But the real secret to achieving more (and better) work in less time is to break your approach into shorter sprints. By syncing work priorities and wellness routines with the phases of the moon, even the busiest among us can transform our schedules to effectively juggle numerous work responsibilities while still having enough energy to bring our best to our personal lives, too. Read on to discover how you can leverage each phase of the lunar cycle to your advantage.?

?? Before I break down each phase, here’s a pro tip: Google Calendar has a ‘Phases of the Moon’ calendar that you can overlay on your main one to keep track of upcoming dates. To add it, go to Settings > Add Calendar > Browse Calendars of Interest > and check off ‘Phases of the Moon’.

New Moon Week?

As a new lunar cycle begins – marked by the moon's darkened appearance in the sky – it’s the perfect time to set a strong foundation for the month ahead in your career, wellness, and personal life.

  • Start by reflecting on your key objectives for the month. Identify the milestones you aim to achieve and prioritize the projects or initiatives that align with your strategic goals. Use this time to gather necessary resources, schedule meetings with stakeholders, and outline deliverables to make the most of this lunar phase.
  • This week is also ideal for creativity and innovation. Give yourself some solo time to brainstorm new ideas, think outside the box, and devise innovative approaches to upcoming challenges.
  • For your wellness, dedicate time to journaling and self-reflection. Spend a few minutes each morning journaling about the past lunar cycle. Consider the lessons you've learned, where you can bring more energy and focus, and what adjustments or boundaries you need to set moving forward. Be honest with yourself, focusing on your needs, what you want more of in your life, and what you need to work on to get there. Clearing your mind through introspection this week will prepare you to embrace the fresh energy this new cycle has in store for you.

First Quarter Week?

As the first quarter moon lights up halfway in the sky, motivation and energy levels peak. This is the ideal time to launch the projects and initiatives you planned during New Moon week.?

  • Take decisive action to move your goals forward, implementing organizational structures and workflows to support your new processes. Refine your daily habits, set up project tracking systems, and delegate tasks to your team. Ask yourself: What am I creating and bringing into the world, and what do I need for it to grow?
  • Leverage this energetic buzz by pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Expand your work or social networks, speak up in meetings, advocate for your ideas, and forge new connections with colleagues and peers. Take up space! Get visible!
  • Read articles and books that inspire you to take a different approach in your career, experiment with new ways of working, and trust that the universe will have your back. By the end of the week, identify the most valuable area to focus on, so you can hunker down and bring it to fruition during the full moon week.
  • Balance this productive energy by dedicating a day or two to socialize and embrace childlike play with friends and family. Boundaries and balance between productive work and social activities that fill your cup are key.
  • Opt for exercise routines that match your heightened energy levels. Think cardio workouts, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), or Vinyasa yoga flows to boost your physical stamina and mental clarity.

Full Moon Week

As the moon reaches its fullest glow this week, lunar energy peaks, marking the halfway point of the lunar cycle. This is the perfect moment to reflect on your progress since the New Moon.

  • Take stock of your achievements, both personal and professional. Are you still on track with your goals? If you need to adjust course, now is the time. Focus on wrapping up tasks and projects that are nearing completion.
  • This week is also ideal for releasing pent-up emotions and shedding limiting beliefs, people, or situations that have been holding you back. Pause and check in with yourself. If negative thoughts are weighing you down, try free-writing — writing continuously for a set period without worrying about spelling, grammar, or topic. It’s a powerful way to clear your mind and spark creativity during this lunar phase.
  • The heightened creative energy this week makes it an ideal time for gathering your team or stakeholders for brainstorming sessions to solve problems or find innovative solutions. Consider planning creative team-building activities or workshops to foster collaboration and boost morale. This is also an ideal time to plan on working on presentation decks and pitch meeting materials, using the creative energy in the air to sharpen your key messages to ensure they resonate and leave a lasting impact on your audience.?

Last Quarter Week?

During the last quarter week, the moon is halfway illuminated, signaling the near end of the lunar cycle.?

  • his is the time to wrap up any lingering tasks or projects. Review project statuses, finalize reports, and tie up loose ends. Use this opportunity to declutter your workspace, tidy your email inbox, and organize digital files. Getting everything in order now sets the stage for a fresh start in the upcoming lunar cycle.
  • In your wellness routine, prioritize restorative practices. Indulge in solitude, ensure you’re getting enough sleep, and treat yourself to massages, relaxing baths, or hobbies that recharge your mental and emotional batteries. Spend time outdoors, whether strolling through a park or hiking natural trails, to ground yourself and invigorate your senses.
  • Extend decluttering to your personal space by deep cleaning your home, organizing closets, and adopting a 'Marie Kondo' approach to items that no longer serve you. Think of this week as an opportunity to create space for new opportunities in the next lunar cycle.

Dark Moon Days

In the 2-3 days before the next lunar cycle begins, the moon enters complete darkness. Think of these days as your prime opportunity to slow down before the next phase kicks off.?

  • Use this time for reflective planning on your career trajectory. Explore where you might want to steer the next lunar cycle based on what unfolded during the past month. Allow yourself to entertain new ideas and envision possibilities without feeling tied to any specific direction.
  • Create a sanctuary of solitude to step back from the world and tune into your intuition — it's always speaking to you, but you need the space and stillness to hear it. Deepen your connection with your intuition during these days and you’ll fnd yourself able to receive valuable insights, fresh perspectives, and creative solutions to lingering challenges.
  • Take advantage of this time to catch up on sleep and take a break from intense exercise—easy yoga or outdoor walks are ideal. Make your rest radical this week to help you recharge your energy for the upcoming, more active and productive lunar phases.
  • During this phase of the lunar cycle, I personally block my calendar from meetings and take a hiatus from social media to tap into its "reset" energy. It's my dedicated time to draw inward, reconnect with myself, and focus on personal renewal. Protect this time fiercely, and you'll discover the profound value these monthly 'break' days can bring to you.


The beauty of syncing your work system and wellness routine with the phases of the moon is how quickly your body adapts. Within a month or two of planning around the lunar cycle, you'll find yourself intuitively knowing when and how to move forward. Launching projects, setting goals, networking, or brainstorming creatively starts aligning with your natural rhythms.
