How To Switch From The Old World to a Career in AI & Web3 + How I Did It

In the summer of 2019, I was completely fed up.

Fed up with:

- Where I was

- The work I had been doing

- Lacking a purpose

- And sacrificing a LOT.

I knew I needed to make a change.

After leaving my role as a Sales at a leading bank, I began to explore my next steps.

Naturally, I looked for another job in finance.

→ Banking.

That’s what I knew, that’s what I had been all my career; in Banking.

After meeting with various companies, I felt… nah… nah… nah… nah... I don’t want this anymore.

I kept thinking:

Is this all there is to it??!!

And this was a really tough time for me…

I felt confused and extremely fed up with where I was at the time.

This DEEP feeling of being fed up is what I used to my advantage.

At the end of 2020, I made a decision.

I needed to take the jump.

So I did and I went all in.

I know what I am capable of when I go all in.

This time I was committed to building a new career in Web3.

Over the next year, this became my fuel.

I used my frustration as my fuel.

I never want to go back to banking ever again.

That’s my motivation: EMERGING TECH.

So I started building.

I learned, I networked, I applied, I went on interviews, ... and I landed a first job.

I needed to start somewhere.

Less than a year later, I got offered a Global Head role at a leading crypto exchange.

My package was displaying close to a 7 digits number.

I was rubbing my eyes in disbelief.

That would never have happened in the old world.

I felt like wonder woman.

I became a public speaker at global conferences in Dubai, Singapore, London, Zurich and you name it.

I was invited on podcasts, webinars, events, ...

I travelled the world to attend conferences, I met the smartest people on the planet in this space and learnt from them.

I was featured 3 times in Forbes.

I was selected as Voice of a New Era of Leaders.

All things I would never ever have dreamt of a year earlier.

In the beginning, I said yes to everything.

And I learned a ton from this period.

Gradually, it started to take shape.

I’ve iterated loads.

I still do.

I love iterating, building, talking to people, learning from legends and improving what I deliver.

It was hard.

And so much FUN.

But you don't have to have it as hard as I had.

Cause now you got the short-cut.
