How To Survive A Recession In Salesforce Job Market

How To Survive A Recession In Salesforce Job Market

According to most economists, there will be a recession in the USA in the second half of this year. Research strategists from?Morgan Stanley?say that corporate earnings in the USA could go down by 16% in 2023.

Unemployment rises during a recession because when the economy slows down, people spend less money. When people spend less, companies sell fewer products and services, so they need fewer employees.

This leads to layoffs, and when people lose their jobs, they have less money to spend, causing even less demand for goods and services.

No one is truly safe in a recession.

While you may not have control over layoff decisions, there are many things you can do to survive and thrive afterward.

Today, I want to share my ideas on how to survive a recession as a Salesforce professional.

Enhance Your Skills

Focus on enhancing your skills to stand out from others. For instance, if you're a Salesforce developer, try to improve your skills to become a Salesforce architect.

Keep learning and expanding your knowledge about the platform. Share your knowledge with others, contribute wherever you can, and develop both hard and soft skills.

Network for Opportunities

Networking is a key part to get and keep a job in the Salesforce ecosystem.

Salesforce has a welcoming community of passionate individuals. They have a deep understanding of the platform and are also eager to assist anyone who joins this community.

You can become a part of this community by joining local groups in your city or town. These communities organize various events and talks.

You will learn about technical and functional topics, stay updated on emerging trends and new releases. Engaging with these communities will open doors to many opportunities.

Keep Positive Attitude

Uncertain times are difficult for managers as well. They don't enjoy having to lay off their employees. For most, it's a difficult task.

Having a strong relationship with your manager will decrease the likelihood of being laid off. Showing empathy demonstrates maturity that is highly valued by companies.

Your technical skills may not always be the most important factor. Having a good attitude, being fair-minded, and doing your best in whatever you do can make a significant impact.

Aim to be the person others want to work with again, and this reputation will benefit you in the long run.

Make Your Own Brand

Now is the perfect opportunity to build your own personal brand.

Writing a blog is an excellent method to show your expertise in Salesforce. Sharing your knowledge through YouTube is also a great option.

Creating a simple app for the AppExchange and hosting it can also contribute to your personal brand.

You will also build your brand by contributing to the developer forum or trailblazer community. You will gain insight into real-time problems others are facing.

To summarize, there are many factors you can't control in a recession. You need to be prepared for tough situations.

If you focus on enhancing your skills and building your personal brand, you will improve your chances of navigating through difficult times.

Your attitude, your willingness to get the job done, and your contributions will determine whether you keep your job or not.

Over time, you will build a strong brand and reputation, and your network of contacts will grow, making you more resilient during a recession.

I hope you find?it?helpful.

Cheers, — Alan
