As Hurricane Milton approaches Florida fresh on the heels of Hurricane Helene, many of us are eager to reach out and offer our support to clients. However, it's crucial to pause and consider the bigger picture of what they may be navigating right now.
Take a moment to consider their current reality. They may be:
- Rebuilding or reassessing their properties and businesses
- Supporting their loved ones and teams through their crises
- Navigating complex recovery processes
Your services, unless directly related to disaster relief efforts, are not their top priority right now.
Instead of offering your services, consider how you can offer meaningful support:
- Share relevant resources for disaster recovery
- Offer to postpone existing commitments, if needed
- Provide insights or connections that could help them navigate current challenges
For some, the best thing you can do is give them space to breathe. They're likely overwhelmed and inundated with offers, requests, and demands. Sometimes, the most valuable thing you can provide is peace.?
Consider:
- Holding off on non-urgent communications
- Offering support without expectation of immediate response
- Letting them know you're available when they're ready, without pressure
Being a reliable, empathetic, and valuable resource speaks volumes. Approaching relationships with patience and understanding, especially during especially challenging periods, sets the foundation for stronger, more meaningful relationships in the future.
Stay focused on how you can genuinely help, be patient, and trust that your time to connect about business will come.
Now is a perfect time to be the calm in the storm for clients.
If you are personally impacted, please know you are cared for and prayed for. Please stay safe. I am here if you need support.?

1 个月LOVE this. Kinda common sense. Kinda just being a good human. But amazing how common sense and being a good human can go out the window when we feel under pressure in business…
