How Support Black Charities is Collaborating with Black-led Organizations to Achieve the SDGs

Anick Silencieux and the Vision of SBC?

Anick, born to parents from Haiti, is an exceptional individual who is passionate about preserving her culture and empowering her community. Anick is raising awareness about the need to support black-led organizations and address challenges.

Her upbringing instilled a strong sense of the value of giving back and honoring her roots. She founded Support Black Charities (SBC), a network of dedicated organizations, donors, and volunteers supporting black communities globally. SBC’s mission is to increase charitable giving for people of African and Caribbean descent by showcasing the impact and diversity of Black-led organizations worldwide.

Anick Silencieux, Founder of Support Black Charities

Anick is a leader who wanted to make it easier for people to find and donate to causes that matter to them.

She wanted to uplift the Black community and make a difference in the world.

In the past, she has volunteered her time with Pierspective Entraide Humanitaire, a humanitarian organization assisting people in need in Haiti. After becoming an electronic engineer, she worked with organizations serving black communities. Additionally, Anick was a member and volunteer at the National Society of Black Engineers, a professional organization that promotes academic and career excellence among Black engineers.

"We Don't Win, Unless Everybody Wins!"

- Anick Silencieux, Founder of Support Black Charities (SBC)

Anick is a proud Black woman, passionate about her culture and inspired by those around her. She is a role model for many people hoping to contribute to the Black community by creating a platform to link these groups with like-minded donors and volunteers.

Black-led organizations play a vital role in supporting communities that have historically faced systemic inequality and discrimination. These organizations provide much-needed services and resources to individuals and groups who are often underserved by mainstream institutions. From education and mentorship programs to social services and healthcare initiatives, black organizations address a wide range of critical issues. Despite their invaluable contributions to communities, these organizations face numerous challenges that hinder their progress.

Difficulties in access to support, and systemic silencing deep-rooted in media often limit their reach and impact. SBC partners with these organizations, to help create lasting change and break the cycle of inequality.

Anick’s vision is to provide essential nonprofit-related resources and services through its programs. All of SBC’s current programs are designed to assist B3 organizations in becoming sustainable, self-sufficient, and empowered to create generational impact for the whole Black Ecosystem. Not only does SBC provide much-needed recognition to black-led organizations and communities. It amplifies their voices and links them to donors.

Anick's future goal is to raise $1M through GBPI for the organizations listed on the SBC directory.

A Platform for Collaboration

Consequently, SBC created the Global Black Philanthropy Initiative (GBPI) platform to help address the disparity revealed by a report from the FBCC, which exposed that only a minimal fraction, 0.07 cents out of every 100 dollars donated by philanthropists in Canada, goes to support Black-led organizations, SBC actively tackles this issue.

GBPI collaborates with various Black-led organizations that work towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of 17 global goals that were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

The SDGs are integrated, meaning that they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic, and environmental sustainability. The SDGs also emphasize the importance of partnerships and collaborations among different stakeholders, such as governments, civil society, private sector, and academia, to achieve the goals.

GBPI provides a unique way to donate. First by choosing 1 of the 17 goals to donate to, your donation will be distributed to all the nonprofit organizations that are aligned with that SDG - Donate Once, Impact Many!

Our donation platform is open 24/7 for you to practice philanthropy at www.global-bpi.org.
