Over last two days, I had the pleasure of running ACE Innovation Supply Chain event in Novotel Singapore as Chairman
Publishing quick summary of Panel discussion, that we concluded. Thanks to 4 Panel leaders @Manoj Saxena/ Ingram Micro, @Sudhir Bansal/ Pfizer, @Jamil Khan/ Lazada and @Johnny Ang/ WireCard
The Panel addressed the topic of “HOW SUPPLY CHAIN OF 2030 WOULD LOOK LIKE”
Broad elements address by Panel.
1. Major factors which will force supply chains to transform are (not limited to) Availability of advanced technology, Customer behaviours/ expectations and Fierce Competition.
2. New skills/ new jobs need to be learned / adopted are, Machine learning, Cognitive Skills, Predictive and prescriptive data analysis using AI / Big Data
3. Transformation is not ALL about Technology ONLY but there are other important elements like People Skills, Culture, Training, Process robustness, Collaboration, Trust and Transparency,
4. To prepare for new opportunities and challenges, organisation have to be ready and embrace change openly, acknowledge the lack that we have today, make a gap analysis and build a road map for future.
5. There will be new Revenue and Financials models based on technological advancement in Service sector like 3D Printing as a Service, MedTech device as a Service. These new models and services would be asset light and make use of social media more often
6. eCommerce would be at centre stage in most CtoC, BtoC markets including high penetration in BtoC markets. However, this does not signify the “Death” of Retail segment. Some parts of Modern Retail would continue to survive somehow.
7. Regulatory and compliance would be extremely severe with most emerging economies at the forefront of growth. Cross Border trade will grow to new heights as with new Trade conventions (RCEP, ATC) in full swing in Asia. ASEAN-China trade would form the backbone of inter Asia Trade
8. Risk management and sustainability would be done pretty upstream and at quicker speed due to transfer of assets and documents via technology across Govt and Customs houses.
Concluding the Panel summary
Supply Chains of 2030 would be technologically extremely advanced, interconnected, interwoven and executed at clock speed. They will much more Customer centric using data driven predictive analytics to create supply plans. Technologies like Block-Chain, Additive manufacturing would be matured widely used across industries. There would be new Revenue models based on Services of various types (Software, Med Device, Returns mgmt and 3D Printing as a service) . Human skill set would be transformed in a radical way

5 年Nice summary, thanks. Did the panel take a view on the global population development over the next decade, and the shift towards Africa-Asia as the global epicentre of trade?
Great thoughts Sanjay
