When life gives you layers, don't get bitter - get better. Use each layer as an opportunity to learn and grow, and eventually, you'll rise to the top. - Anonymous
Let's say that Bruce is a controls engineer at a tech company. He has been working on a project for months and has made significant progress, but then his manager hires a more experienced engineer to oversee the project. This new engineer starts making changes to the project without consulting Bruce, and Bruce feels like his contributions are being undervalued. He may feel that his job has been layered over and that his work is no longer as important. This could lead to frustration and a lack of motivation, as Bruce may feel that his efforts are not being recognized.
Bruce still wants to "look good" in the eyes of his employer and peers at work. To overcome this situation, Bruce understands he is not powerless in his situation and tries harder to communicate more effectively with his manager and the new engineer, ensuring that everyone is on the same page about the project goals and the contributions that each team member is making. He also begins to look for opportunities to take on additional responsibilities or contribute in new ways, demonstrating his value to the organization and his commitment to his own professional growth. Initially, Bruce may have felt a bit discouraged, but he soon pivoted to taking a more proactive role and proved he could accept change well and be successful regardless of what the changes may bring.

When you are layered over at work, the key to success is to maintain a positive attitude and continue working hard. It's important to communicate clearly with your supervisor and team members to ensure that everyone is aware of your responsibilities and the value you bring to the organization. Additionally, focus on building strong relationships with your colleagues and seek out opportunities to collaborate and contribute to the team's success. Finally, be proactive in identifying ways to add value and take on new challenges, demonstrating your commitment to the organization and your own professional growth.
