How to Style: A Raspberry Coloured Dress

Bold, bright colours can be tricky to style but that’s no reason to avoid them.  Outfits with a splash of colour add personality, energy, and fun into an everyday look, giving you a great excuse to experiment with daring styles.  The addition of new tones and shades exudes positivity in everyday business or pleasure looks, enabling your confidence to shine. In this article, we hope to inspire you to embrace exciting patterns and colours in an expression of personal style, aided by a variety of looks showcasing the styling possibilities of a raspberry red dress – the perfect, versatile piece to be dressed up or down and to carry you through from day to night.

Urban Safari

2019 left its mark on the fashion world by teaching us that anything goes. This was epitomised no more effectively than in the SS19 collections, where fashionistas witnessed the comeback of the humble animal print, presented on the catwalks as the ‘new neutral’.  As we enter SS20, let us keep up the non-conformist attitude and ride the wave of personal style!

Unleash the wild, playful part of yourself through experimenting with daring accessories – pairing a vibrant red dress with a boldly patterned coat is an excellent starting point.  This Alexander McQueen zebra-print coat exudes modernity and is an expression of individual style – perhaps even of animal power! Animal prints lend themselves to a ‘more is more’ philosophy – as demonstrated by Caroline Issa’s head-to-toe leopard look – so don’t be afraid to mix patterns and layer up for a truly modern and fashion-forward outfit. Finish off with a fedora, strappy heels and a statement bag to show your sophisticated side.

Delicate Pastels

As in the spirit of Max Mara’s SS20 collection, it’s time to rethink how you wear pastels.   Once a favourite amongst classic 18th century artists and the bourgeois society, pastels are perfect for adding a dash of sophistication to a look. Pairing bold colours - like daring red and vibrant yellow – with pastel touches in the accessories, oozes classic elegance and is a good way of slowly introducing brightness to your wardrobe.  The balance of vibrancy with delicate pastels creates an intriguing, feminine look that’s bound to capture the attention of many, demonstrating both your soft and playful sides.

Spring Celebration

Often, red is found to be a challenging colour to style, meaning that garments purchased in variations of this colour are  either resigned to the back of the wardrobe to wait for the ‘ideal moment’, or paired with plain, muted colours to prevent the outfit seeming too ‘daring’. With the warmer spring months approaching, it’s time to reintroduce colour, patterns, and boldness back into our wardrobes, in the spirit of spring cleaning and new life. Pairing bold prints with vivid colours is the ultimate expression of style and confidence! This beautiful leafy print is entirely spring appropriate, whilst the boldness of the red adds purpose and drive, perfect for the empowered woman. The addition of silver accessories balances the look in a way that exudes elegance, creating the perfect 'Spring Celebration' ready look.

Apricot Shot

Colour allows for the expression of imagination, emotion and purpose.  Whether it’s red to demonstrate passion and drive, or blue to demonstrate wisdom and tranquillity, colours help us to reveal parts of our personality in a beautiful, sartorial display.

Pairing a bold red dress with the peacefulness of sky blue and apricot accessories allows confidence and playfulness to shine, whilst maintaining a chic and elegant style.  This unexpected yet complementary colour combination is perfectly suited to a powerful woman, balancing punchy oranges and reds with cool and calming blue to create a perfectly stylish look with hidden depths.

Jewel Tones

Opulent jewel tones breathe life into wardrobes, as they can be reworked for both day and evening looks. Although traditionally regarded as unsuitable for anything other than evening wear, wearing jewel-inspired tones of colour across a whole host of occasions has never been so versatile and easy.

For a truly regal look, why not pair our raspberry dress with green and blue tones? These jewel tones will add elegance and sophistication to an everyday look that can transition from day to night, desk to drinks, with ease.  Opting for either heels or flats helps the look seamlessly transition throughout the day, whilst the pop of red ties all the tones together with utmost finesse and grandeur.

Night Out

Effectively managing your work-life balance is key to achieving both happiness and success.  It’s important to play as hard as you work and reward yourself often! Our Raspberry Dress is the perfect garment to help you transition from day to night – a casually chic piece for after-work drinks or playfully styled for an evening out with friends.

Colourful accessories will bring this dress to life: opting for a clutch and stilettos with red and purple hues complements the raspberry colouring, whilst adding a daring, playful element to the look. Finishing off with a fun, black faux fur bolero adds the all-important elegance touch, creating a classic evening look.

Whether you choose to be the sartorial queen of the jungle, or the opulent picture of sophistication in jewel tones, a little red dress can provide bountiful looks to suit any occasion, emotion, or style.  Try to avoid relying on temporary fads or trends to dictate your personal style, utilise your existing clothes and accessories to experiment with new collaborations, have fun and express your true self, and then you will certainly outlast the seasons!  Which look was your favourite?
