HOW STRONG IS YOUR BRIDGE?

HOW STRONG IS YOUR BRIDGE?

The purpose of a bridge is to help you to cross challenging and seemingly uncrossable territory, waters, or terrain to help you get to your desired destination. And the stronger the bridge, the more confident and thus, likelier you are to make it to your destination. This is true in every aspect of your life. On your life's journey however, you will need to leverage more than just physical bridges to get you to where you're going. As you pursue your purpose in life, the bridge that connects who you are today, with who you'll become tomorrow, is what you believe. So the question that I urge you all to consider is this; "How strong is your bridge?"

One of my favorite talks that I deliver is titled; Be - Believe - Become. The core message of that talk aligns well with this post, in that it encourages you to employ the following process...

  1. Be yourself and not who others want you to be.
  2. Believe in yourself and trust your gifts.
  3. Become the change agent and solutions provider you were created to become.

The "Believe" component of this message is in the middle of the process intentionally. Because as stated earlier, the bridge that connects who you "Be" today with who you'll "Become" tomorrow, is what you "Believe." How strongly you believe in something will determine the strength of the bridge to get you there in that area of your life. Here's what I mean by that.

If you believe that the situation or circumstances of the community, society, or world that you live in is hopeless, then you will become an agent of hopelessness. But if you truly believe that you can make a difference, then you will become a difference maker. If you believe that greatness is in you and you are destined to do great things, you will become a measure of greatness that others will aspire to. If you believe that you will fail at everything you try, then you will become a failure. My question to you is what do you believe?

Once you've established your bridge of belief, you have to make sure that your bridge is strong! Because the storms of discouragement and doubt will surely come your way. They come for us all. And when those storms rear their ugly heads, you want to make sure that you have a strong reinforced steel bridge to withstand them. Not some flimsy straw bridge, or mediocre wooden bridge. But a strong immovable bridge of certainty. Otherwise, the slightest gust of wind that comes your way will destroy your bridge. And you will never get to where you are supposed to be in life. You will never become the person you are meant to become. And if that happens we all suffer. Because the greatness that is inside of you is meant to inspire, impact, and influence way more people in this world than just you. If you do not become the person you were created to become, then you will never impact the lives you were created to impact.

There will be certain storms in your life that you simply can not avoid. Storms of hate, discouragement, disappointment, fear, confusion, and uncertainty. And when those unavoidable storms come your way in an attempt to derail you from your destination and your purpose in life, it is the strength of your bridge of faith, confidence, and belief that will ensure you are not derailed. No matter what.

Remember... "the bridge that connects who you are today with who you'll become tomorrow is what you believe." How strong is your bridge?
