Did you know?
According to the National Science Foundation in the US we have 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts in a day!
If you come to think about it, this is almost 1 to 5 thoughts every second during your waking hours, which is a lot of thoughts. Now there is another very important fact everyone should be aware of, which is that 80% of these thoughts are negative!
Now, you might be astounded and think that all these thoughts which fall in the realm of negative are bad, but in reality that is not the case.
We think of them as bad because fear also comes in the realm of negative. However, it is this fear that prevents us from falling off a cliff, which makes us more careful when we are near danger. The only conscious thought you should have is not letting fear overpower you in a way that it gets paralyzing and prevents you from achieving greatness. Fear should not be so overpowering that you become scared of even reaching the cliff.
After reading about the amount of negative thoughts a normal human being has, I decided to do an exercise to see how many negative thoughts I have in a day!
So, in this exercise I carried a notebook and a pen with me all the time and I started to pen down all the negative thoughts I was having all the time. When I saw that I was filling up pages upon pages with these negative thoughts, I was shocked, especially since I am such a positive guy.
Imagine the space I can create by being more aware and catching these thoughts and changing them. I immediately made a decision that I have to evolve my thinking.
These thoughts drive feelings and emotions - you can change the emotion you feel from changing the thought and from changing the emotion you can change the action as well as the consequence. So what this actually means is that by changing the thought you can change your actions which effectively will change your life. So, if your thought is negative, obviously your emotion driven by that thought will be negative and in turn you will take an action upon that thought which may not be favourable.
Catch the thoughts which do not serve you and change them to change your life.
M going to start monitoring my negative thoughts starting today! I believe I’m super positive - happy to discover in the week ahead.
Knowing and understanding this wonderful and magical tool we have is all there is :) Thank you for sharing!

3 年The brain is a powerful tool and it works just as hard with negative thoughts as positive. I used to imagine two parrots on my shoulders conscience and fiend and to try to mentally talk to my positive conscience but this last year has challenged me beyond belief as it has with so many. Being able to express yourself now with like minded positive people is great. But surround yourself with the right people. One bad apple can affect your balance
