How to stop from burning out as a leader

How to stop from burning out as a leader

You know what feeling of no matter how much you try to step away, your team always seems to need you for something? It starts to create a pressure cooker that if you turn away for ONE MINUTE something is going to go wrong, and you’ll be in even deeper trying to fix everything.?

The result of this for too long is BURNOUT. And it’s a real struggle for managers and leaders, especially in how fast we’re all having to move these days. But the good news is, there are steps you can take to prevent it.

In this week's episode of Managing Made Simple, I share three key strategies to help you avoid burnout and create more space for yourself as a leader:

1. Establishing clear boundaries in ways you haven't thought of before

2. Setting expectations with your team to offload in the most meaningful ways

3. Holding your team accountable to empower them to step up?

By implementing these strategies, you can start to let go of the constant worry and overwhelm, and trust that your team has things handled.

One of the biggest takeaways from this episode is the importance of setting energetic boundaries. It's not just about turning off your notifications after 6pm (even though we could probably all use a few less notications!). It's about being able to empathize and support your team without getting completely sucked into their challenges as if they were your own.

This is a tricky balance, but it's essential for maintaining your own wellbeing and avoiding that 3am panic about whether a project is on track. When you set clear expectations and hold your team accountable, you create a sense of ownership and proactivity that allows you to step back and trust that things will get done.

If you're feeling the weight of burnout as a manager or business owner, give this episode a listen. And if you want more hands-on support to build an unstoppable team that frees up your time and energy, send me a message. I'd love to chat about how I can help.

Remember, burnout is not inevitable. With the right strategies and support, you can lead your team to success without sacrificing your own well-being.

P.S. Know a fellow manager or business owner who's struggling with burnout? Forward this their way - it might be just the message they need to hear today.
