In my opinion, driving is a privilege that comes with responsibility. Whether you're heading to work, dropping the kids off at school, or taking a long road trip, safety should always be a top priority.

Here are five quick tips to help you steer clear of accidents and keep those insurance premiums in check.

Keep Your Eyes on the Prize (The Road!)

Distractions are everywhere these days like your buzzing phone, a spilled coffee, or even trying to referee the kids in the back seat. When it’s raining or snowing, slow down and avoid sudden stops or sharp turns. Use your headlights, but make sure they’re on low beam in fog. And don’t forget that bridges and overpasses freeze first in icy conditions, so approach them with care.

If you’re feeling sleepy, pull over! Fatigued driving is just as dangerous as drunk driving. That "power nap" at a rest stop could save your life.
