How to Stay Inspired While Working Remotely
Many of us have been working remotely at least part of the time over the last couple years, and that’s given us enough experience to develop some strategies to stay productive when we’re working away from the office. But maintaining productivity is only one of the challenges we face when working remotely. One common challenge that comes up is a lack of inspiration. There are many reasons why this can happen — maybe there’s not enough on your plate, maybe too much. Stress can also be a factor, as can the lack of interaction with colleagues. The reason is less important than finding a solution. Here are a few ideas that can help you to stay inspired when you’re working remotely:
?
Read Something
Starting a new book is a proven method for keeping our minds engaged. It can be work-related — maybe something addressing a specific area where you want to improve, but it can be anything really. The book doesn’t need to be work-related to be of benefit; any new information can have a positive impact on your level of inspiration. Diving into something you’d like to learn more about can be motivating. It might give you a new way to approach a challenge, a new marketing idea, or a new goal to set for yourself. It doesn’t have to be rigid or unpleasant; reading a bit every day can help reignite some of the inspiration you’ve been missing.
Listen to Something
Not everyone enjoys reading, and there are other ways to get that same effect. Listening to a podcast, a TedTalk, or some other audio resource can also be a terrific way to get inspired. And unlike reading, you can listen to something while out for a walk, doing some other form of exercise, or driving in the car.

Connect with Someone
For those of us that prefer being surrounded by people, remote work can be particularly difficult. But just because you aren’t physically with others, doesn’t mean you can’t still connect with them. Staying connected is important. And that can be done by exchanging ideas and resources or talking through challenges you (or they) might be having. Staying connected with your coworkers can provide a feeling of solidarity to support your inspiration.
Disconnect
Though it might seem counter intuitive, making time to disconnect can be essential for maintaining inspiration. Sure, engaging with outside resources and staying connected to our colleagues are important, but we also need to make sure we’re balancing that with enough time for resting and reflecting. Sometimes too much screen-time can make us feel exhausted and drained. Ensure you’re giving yourself some time to disconnect and recharge. That can help you get into a better frame of mind to get and stay inspired.

It's entirely possible to stay inspired while working remotely, we just need to implement the strategies that support consistent motivation.
