How to Stay Consistent in your Life.

I recently wrote an article on Medium about how to stay consistent in your life and why it is so important.


We all have good days and bad days where it's a struggle but by having consistency in your life you can push through those bad days until the storm has passed and the good days return.


Here is a little extract of that article.


"Consistency is key to many aspects of our lives. It gives the greatest results even on those things we don’t want to do or have no motivation for. We all have consistency in our lives already in some form.

Let me explain…

You might say to me that you are the most unmotivated person, the world’s biggest procrastinator, but I will still tell you that you have consistency. You consistently procrastinate. You have formed that habit and you do it regularly, so changing your mindset on this means that you can do anything you set your mind too. You just need to set your mind on the right course of action to bring great rewards, change your habits and away you go.

Know your dreams and own them. Often our dreams are shaped by outside influences even when we don’t recognise that they are. Everything we consume through media shapes us, whether that is social media, TV or books. We see someone living an aspect of life that we want and we try to figure out how to get there too. It becomes a dream of ours but it may not be entirely our dream. When we chase someone else’s dream we can lose sight of it and the desire and motivation start to drop off."

Some quick points on how to build consistency:

  1. Break down your goals into small steps and celebrate each one...
  2. Be organized and build those habits...
  3. Remind yourself daily of why you started...
  4. Don’t allow money to be the only motivator...
  5. Do not allow your mind to tell you the negative things...
  6. Aim to build momentum...
  7. Plan A may not always work out...


Remember that consistency is often the difference between success and failure.

Consistency is so extremely important. It took awhile but with every day practice , I was finally able to help a lady to remember to use her call button to get help when needed so she would not fall. It took practicing 5 x a week for about 6-8 weeks to finally happen. She has dementia so it took much longer but it was the consistency combined with patience that yielded the result!!
