With winter approaching for many, we face lower temperatures and shorter days. While it may seem a bit challenging to stay active during colder months, it is also the perfect time to be creative with your exercise routine.
When you're ready, adding Healthy Motion is a terrific way to improve your mental and physical health. Check out the following tips to keep moving:
- Use daylight. If possible, be active outdoors before the sun sets. Take a walk during your lunch break as the temperature and sunshine typically peak at this time of day.
- Walk indoors. Head to the mall to practice Healthy Motion! Walk and then tackle some holiday shopping on the same trip.
- Exercise at home. Whether you are vacuuming, cleaning the house, or shoveling snow, these activities also count as exercise And, they are a wonderful way to incorporate Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT)!
- Try ice skating. Ice skating is a favorite winter past-time during the holiday season. It’s also a fantastic way to exercise, so bundle up, grab your family and friends, and head to the local rink.
- Play outdoors with your kids. Get your blood pumping by heading outside and playing with your kids or going for a walk around the neighborhood! Pulling sleds, building snowmen, or getting your steps in on a long walk are great ways to stay active over the next few months.
