How not to start your internship
I just got assigned a new batch of interns.
I immediately sent them a calender link to set up an appointment.
Some acknowledged receipt. Some did not.
The next day I sent them a reminder.
A few days after that I gave up on them and on their school.
A week later, the interns had a check in with their school's coordinator where they each said that they had not received the calendar link.
I was surprised and gave the coordinator the stack of replies and read receipts.
Would it be more educational to let them start the projects a week later, or to cancel all of the internships?

2 周Both! But in the day of digitally stored data, it's mind-blowing that people will lie about anything captured and stored. Regarding lying, my husband went to his HR business partner at a former company about his manager's misrepresentations and they told him, "It's not illegal to lie" (direct quote). So it would seem that there are seemingly trusted companies are enabling this behavior and turning a blind eye.

3 周Cancel the internships. It will be the best lesson they can learn. The lesson isn’t necessarily about lying but about responsibility and repercussions.
